"I do not believe you know me well enough to ask that."

T'Reshik's parents, believing their daughter should have a choice in the matter, had left her unbonded- nevertheless, they advised her against Professor Sutek. It was not merely on the basis of the couple's substantial age difference- Sutek was almost fifty years older than her-, but also in response to certain... rumours about the nature of his studies. ''We do not even speak of these things amongst ourselves, T'Reshik let alone subject them to scientific scrutiny. You would be wise to avoid him.'' Yet marry him she did.

Later, under Sutek's instruction, she would stand in front of a tribunal and lie. No, she had not been aware of the nature of his studies; neither did she collaborate with him at any point. They found grounds for his dismissal, but not hers, and the research continued.

When they finally realised that their experiment was not working, it was too late. Sutek discontinued the treatment, and passed away within the week. That same night, T'Reshik destroyed all their collected data, resigned her place at the university, and appled to re-join Starfleet. She would continue the treatment now, not in a bid to change the world for the better, but because she had no idea what would happen to her if she stopped. Sutek had died horribly, delirious and sweating blood. She would not let the same happen to her.
