In 2380 Katalina Briyal served as an Ensign in the security force at [[Midway Repair Facility]]. Though she was only an Ensign, she served as Assistant Chief of Security for the small station, and therefore had plenty of access codes. When the experimental starship [[USS Trillium]] docked at Midway, it was clear that someone was attempting to steal it. Katalina revealed herself to be an independent terrorist who planned to steal the starship and blame it on Starfleet officers. She framed and attacked [[Mar, Idril|Idril Mar]], who was overseeing repairs, putting her in a coma and giving the Mar Symbiont amnesia. Briyal escaped without the Trillium but vowed revenge on those who had tried to foil her plans.
