The ''Artemis'' arrived to Earth just in time for the Frontier Day celebrations to begin. Fleet Admiral Elizabeth Shelby led the parade, announcing a demostration of the new Fleet Formation Mode. As soon as Fleet Formation was activated, it took over the ''Artemis'' and disabled the crew's control. Shelby's speech was interrupted by Admiral Jean-Luc Picard, who had also found out about the Borg and Changeling plans and was trying to warn the gathered fleet. Before any reaction by the fleet, a loud screech was heard, and the younger members of the crew, including Chevalier, began to behave unusually. Assimilated remotely by the Borg, they attacked the crew.
