'''Operation Bright Star''' refers to the Federation fleet actions leading up to and encompassing the recapture of Deep Space 17 from Vaadwaur forces in the summer of 2387. This was necessitated by the events of the [[Second Battle of Eratis]], which resulted in the station being [[Vaadwaur Occupation|held by the Vaadwaur]]. Because the Ithassa Taskforce was not able to assault the station directly, DS17 was in enemy hands for for a period of nearly two and a half months before Starfleet could assemble and deploy a force of sufficient strength to recapture the station.
