Sosa

The sosas are deformed mutants living in the Undercity of the Outlying Territories world of Mymiri. They plague the inhabitants of the Undercity - criminals or their descendants - with their bites having the power to mutate their victim into another sosa (which seems to happen rather drastically some time after infection).

The Upper City doctor Suyal Ornon, has begun extensive research into a serum that can be used to counteract the effect of a sosa bite.
