Lieutenant Commander Sky Blake is the Chief of Security aboard the Veritas. She also serves as a ranger for the Bajak Laut Sector.
:This page refers to Prime Blake. You may be looking for Sky Blake (hologram) or Sky Blake (alternate).
Skyleena Blake is a half Brekkian, half Betazoid serving as Vice Chief of the Colonial Coalition Marshals Service.

Of Brekkian and Betazoid heritage, born on the Brekkian homeworld of Delos IV, Blake is the widow of Lieutenant Sabor, and mother of two children (Faith and Ayden Blake). She is related to the Eleventh House of Betazed through her mother Lila Cole, though isn't enthralled in the Betazoid politics surrounding the noble Houses.
She previously served as a Starfleet officer aboard the Challenger, Ronin, Mercury, Avandar, Vigilant, Syracuse, and Veritas, earning the rank of Commander. She retired from active service in mid-2398.

Blake is a humanoid of Brekkian and Betazoid descent, sharing emerald green eyes with her Brekkian father but lacks any notable Brekkian features. She is 5'10 and sports short blonde hair, just long enough to be tied back. She wears three rings on her right hand, denoting her marriage to Sabor, placed on her thumb (a plain copper band), second (a plain gold band), and fourth (a stainless steel band with emerald gemstone) fingers, respectively.

Early life
Because she is part Brekkian, Blake's body temperature is higher than that of the average humanoid. Her skin is surprisingly warm if not hot to touch. She often wears layers when operating aboard Federation vessels, adding additional pieces to her uniform to remain warm in what are otherwise regular temperate environments. She may even go so far as to wear thick thermal clothing to replace parts of her uniform or add more layers underneath it.
In January 2391, Sky Blake awoke in a Brekkian medical facility with no recollection of the previous 15 years of her life, or that of her husband Sabor and their two children - one of which had only recently been born. With nowhere else to go, she reluctantly accepts Sabor's offer to stay with him for at least a few days. As time passes, she grows more trusting of Sabor, as she begins to understand the telepathic bond between them.

The following four months sees Sabor update Blake on the current events occurring in the quadrant and her history and time in Starfleet as they rekindle their relationship. Though she re-accepts his proposal to marry him, she refuses to leave her homeworld, and Sabor is unwilling to force the issue. This choice ultimately results in Sabor's death, as the two become caught in a fire-fight between the Brekkian military and an extremist group attempting to destroy an Ornaran embassy. Sabor is mistakenly shot by military personnel, fatally wounded, and is pronounced deceased on stardate 239105.01.
She will wear comfortable form-fitting clothing when dressing outside of duty. Usually consists of brightly coloured, but otherwise plain clothing — typically a t-shirt and shorts. Blake thrives in hot climates and enjoys this casual getup when possible. Outside of her quarters, and in temperatures under 30 degrees, she is not known to allow much exposure of her skin, and she will wear well-fitted, long-sleeve shirts with a neckline no lower than her collar bone. If it is still too cold, she will resort to wearing thick thermal skins designed to retain her body temperature, and gloves if necessary.

Days later, still in shock and without an adequate support network, Blake chooses to leave her two children with her mother on Brekka, believing them to be better off without her - effectively abandoning them to live a solitary life on Ornara as she comes to terms with Sabor's death.

{{Quote|You're a widow, Commander. Born out of ash and fire with just five years of life under your belt. The things that scare you are complex - they are very real problems. Blake was found residing on the Ornaran homeworld in 2392, working with law enforcement to rid her area of residence of further crime incited by black market drug trade. She is approached in a bar winding down from a days work by Commander Zhou Tai-Sheng - after some minor convincing on his part, she agrees to assist the Veritas with Brekkian drug cartels around Meridian, and was assigned to the Veritas as the ship's Strategic Operations Officer for the ongoing Operation Safe Harbor under the provisional rank of Lieutenant Commander. With no clear recollection of her Starfleet experience, she begins studying and receives on the job training by the Veritas crew.

After a few months with a provisional rank, she is granted the rights and privileges of Lieutenant Commander by Captain Rosa Carrero.

On stardate 239307.21, Blake was lent to Peaceforce Five, and posted to the Syracuse under the command of Roshanara Rahman following reports of suspicious activity involving Voreic Industries in the Menthar Corridor - given her intimate knowledge of a key player within the organization, it was believed her presence would be of benefit. The first week of her stay proves uneventful, but the Syracuse, assigned as a support vessel to the Invicta, is caught in conflicts surrounding Adovan territory, one involving Titus Vassily. After both crews resolve the incident, she ignores all requests to assist a small taskforce formed by Starfleet Intelligence to examine all records pertaining to Vassily with the intention of locating and capturing him, claiming an irritation of Starfleet's inattention to the Federation's local problems.

She remains on Astrofori One during the Syracuse crewshore leave, and along with Zhou, assists the Syracuse and Invicta crews in refurbishing the Venture. On it's way home from a parade, the Venture is thrown into the mid-2200s, coming up against the Doomsday machine - during this period, Blake acts as the Ventures First Officer.

Safely returned to their home time of 2393, she was placed on a six month leave of absence to spend time with her family, of whom she'd been estranged from with little contact for over two years. Blake relocates her children's residence to Bintac, collecting Sabor's ashes from Brekka and returning them to his family.

Five months into her leave of absence, she returned to the Shoals and headed directly for Shadow's Edge to assist the small research settlement of Cakapunnual with ending hostile raids on their resources, working closely with colonial marshal Tydo. Shortly before being recalled to the Veritas, Blake took possession of a two hundred year old EM-33 plasma pistol, of which had been smuggled into the settlement illegally, with the intention of locating it's origin within the Shoals. When patrolling the main colony with Lieutenant Elena Sands, news of Carrero's death broke. Blake immediately contacted the Veritas, recalling the crew members on the planet back to the vessel, before it was recalled to Star Station Esperance for a new captain. Blake would arrange a memorial service for Carrero along their journey back to their pseudo home base.

Upon return to Esperance, Zhou was reassigned to the star station, while Blake was given the role of the Veritas First Officer, one of the few bridge crew officers not to be reassigned when Captain Roshanara Rahman took command. During this time, Blake worked with Counselor Raissa Moonsong and Chief Engineer Luna Walker during the transition.

When tasked with finding evidence and potentially provide a list of suspects, Blake was involved in a minor confrontation with Tydo upon her teams entrance into the Governor's residence. With Walker, Kessa T'Dara, and Carter Greyson, they found wiped security logs and cut power lines - evidence Blake initially thought the Coalition Marshals of Shadow's Edge had tampered with. T'Dara is injured when exposed to an electrical current, and the team reconvenes on the Veritas. When Sky is unable to contact Captain Rahman and her team on the surface, she pulls the crew back to the ship, concerned for the captain's wellbeing.

Blake was part of the team that boarded what was left of the cargo vessel Falcon. When clues regarding the party responsible for the Falcon's demise arose, Blake and Evan Delano spoke of the known exploits of the Kos'karii, a large band of Klingon pirates that operated within the Shoals, also supplying the crew with information of the Kos'karii leader known as Jilor. Later, Blake would speak to Mei'konda about her frustration with the Federation Security and Starfleet Administration, believing that Delano's information would have assisted the Veritas and its operations, and was angered that instead of working as a unit, Starfleet, Federation Security, and the Colonial Marshals, continued to knock heads against each other. She would go on to assist Mei'konda in interrogating the Falcon's survivor Sov, a Klingon who was once a crew member of a Kos'karii vessel.

Blake, along with crew members from both the Veritas and Star Station Esperance, crewed the shuttle that transferred Rosa Carrero's to her transport home.

In mid-2394, Blake steps down from her position as First Officer, instead recommending Mei'konda as her replacement, and takes a position with the Starfleet Rangers. Required to complete what is essentially a 'crash course', she is sent to the Embassy of Duronis II, where she undergoes weapons checks and hand-to-hand combat assessments by the Embassy's marines (namely Hannah Martinez). She is confronted by Hannibal Parker, whom served with her prior to her amnesia, and though she remembers next to nothing about him, she re-establishes a friendship with him. After three days and a successful training course, she sets off back to the Shoals as a regional support officer.

Upon arrival at Star Station Esperance and awaiting a connecting transport ship to take her back to Shadow's Edge, Blake is asked by Elis Nacubaq to check on Brandon Cormac, their old colleague, whom at the time is stationed on Outpost 3 as mission security, and had missed coms check. Upon arriving, Blake finds the outpost crippled almost beyond repair, with Cormac being the only survivor after ten days alone after the attack. She takes him back to Shadow's Edge, where he resigns from Starfleet, and Blake continues to work with him when he becomes a Coalition Marshal.
Blake's life revolves near-exclusively around her job in the Shoals. Her position aboard the Veritas and her role as a Starfleet Ranger provided her with a purpose she didn't have prior to re-joining Starfleet. She takes threats to the Shoals region incredibly seriously and becomes frustrated when her fellows (especially those in Starfleet]] don't show the same level of commitment to the rules and regulations of the areas—such as Kelrod discharging a phaser to stop an escalating physical conflict in a Ketar V establishment, which ultimately lands he, Wil Ukinix, and Captain Roshanara Rahman in Colonial Coalition Marshals holding cells. Comparatively, when an officer is untrusting of the Marshals, Blake becomes equally frustrated, regardless of whether she knows they are right in their assumptions (as is the case with Hannibal Parker).

By 239409, notified by a Starfleet Intelligence officer that two suspects of a murder investigation handed to her by a Marshal official, she is urged to return to the Veritas in hopes that the ship's resources may assist her with tracking them.
Blake prefers an advisory role specifically in the Shoals — which is the reason she was re-recruited back to Starfleet in 2392. She even admits to Rahman that she doesn't like being aboard starships because of the ongoing impact the environment has on her ill-suited physical health, but continued to serve for the positive influence the purpose of service provides for her mental health. To some, Blake may have been a controversial choice of executive officer for Veritas. She is highly critical of Starfleet as an organisation, perceiving its current operations as being a flawed result of increased paranoia following the events of the Dominion War.

The Veritas comes across Outpost 3 to check on Tristam Core's progress in repairing the outpost after the Klingon attack. Stashes of felicium are found hidden behind bulkheads, and after weeks analyzing and about to destroy it, Blake along with Nikki Ryan, Sepek, and a civilian engineer are arrested by the Klingon crew of the IKS Dennas, and incurs "minor" injury. Captain Rahman has them released shortly after, and the crew are required to work with the Klingons for the duration of their time at the outpost.
Blake sometimes struggles to "switch off" from her duties, making it hard for others to connect with her on a personal level. Some may find it easier to only engage with Blake on duty, but with persistence, it is possible to break through her all-work-no-play psyche, revealing an easy-going woman. She surrounds herself deliberately with colour, having subscribed rather heavily into Ornaran colour psychology, and is considerably bright and charismatic when faced with relaxed social settings. Blake is strict with herself and tries her best to abide by social norms, rules, and laws of other cultures or colonies.

In late 239412, Blake's son (Ayden Blake) is escorted to the Veritas by Zhou Tai-Sheng, whom remains onboard for a ride back to Esperance.
Blake will ask questions and press for more information when she feels she does not have all the answers she requires, though admittedly becomes frustrated if others refuse to provide them. When required to make decisions, she prefers all have had their say first so that she can determine a course of action based on the information provided — though she has on occasion been known to make rash, ill-thought-out decisions when the crew is on a time crunch, possibly explaining her constant need for information.

After the crew of the Veritas rescue the Astraeus, a Galaxy class vessel that banked in the Shoals, Blake arrests it's captain, Victor Yeager, for violating general order three and the travel legislation of the Bajak Laut sector, having been forbidden to to so earlier by Kelrod.
If irritated, she becomes cold and blunt. However, she will not raise her voice when speaking to others.

She joins Roshanara Rahman and Lael Rosek aboard the Atlantis, reuniting with Parker, and meets Kamela Allison and Boris Hendon of the Duronis II Embassy.
Blake has struggled to set down roots and maintains homesteads in several different locations—including on Delos IV, Shadow's Edge, and Meridian. Though not originating from the Shoals, she is rather "patriotic" about the area, going so far as to demand the Colonial Coalition flag in her official Starfleet portrait.

When Blake returns, she suffers a minor seizure, resulting in the loss of memory (including most of the events aboard the Atlantis), and is placed on a week's medical leave and light duties for a following fortnight. During this time, Kallo Ver is arrested and held in the Veritas brig, having destroyed his civilian vessel mere kilometres away from the Veritas and Star Station Esperance. She's asked by Rahman to join them as they interrogate Kallo, and he reveals that he had located a lost Romulan treasure fleet.

Zhou: You’ve always been uncomfortable when you’ve met people from that “other” Sky’s past. The familiarity foreign to you.

On stardate 239506.01, Rahman reassigns Blake to be the Chief of Security for the Veritas, the first time Blake had ever held a department head position (not including her brief period as her First Officer). However, when the ship encounters the Borg, she fails to properly lead her department, resulting in multiple Borg drones managing to infiltrate the Veritas and assimilate certain parts of the ship. When giving her report to Evan Delano, she expresses feeling inadequate for the position - to which the man responds with his first mission as Chief of Security aboard the Garuda, leaving her feeling a little better.
In this regard, Zhou had been lucky. He’d never heard of or met Sky Blake before his mission to go find her on Ornara and recruit her help when Veritas had been tasked with dealing with Brekkian drug smuggler pushing felicium into the Shoals. Perhaps that was why she’d been willing to let him get so close.

Following an easy-going shore leave, Detective Sidney Ripley joins the Veritas when a group of miners on Havley's Hope go missing. Blake is sent down with Delano and Lorian Lovar to talk with the missing peoples' families and colleagues and investigate where they lived and the surrounding area. They turn up very little, though Sky provokes a mother missing their partner to encourage the group of victims to assist them and have hope that those missing will be located. Following this, they return to the ship.
Zhou: I don’t think this is as much about being offended as it is you worried you’re going to find out more about who you really were once… and maybe not living up to that. ::He shrugged.:: Or maybe just finding out how much you’ve changed.

Upon realization by the Engineering crew that they may have been beamed away with a subspace transporter, Blake is ordered back to the Bridge to scan for Lael Rosek, the only Al-Leyan known to be in the area.

Blake is among those present when Jhalib Ekal introduces himself. Though she is personally unsure as to why, Blake trusts the time-traveler without question, and stays nearby when he assists the crew in locating potential sabotage from the Temporal Integrity Commission of the 25th century. During this time, she accompanies Evan Delano, G'var and Alora DeVeau to the Artemis, which had been rendered mostly inoperable, and discovered that it was indeed missing portions of it's cargo. The Veritas faces a stand-off with Tholian forces, but the situation is ultimately resolved peacefully.
Despite her committed relationship to Rairen Caide, Blake still wears three rings denoting her marriage to Sabor, her Vulcan bond-mate who was killed in 2391, on her right-hand thumb, second, and fourth fingers. Though she is protective of her children and their privacy, she frequently entrusts others to watch over them when she is not available—which is often the case for her son Ayeden, who has had countless guardians over the last two years alone.

However, shortly after this encounter, the Temporal Integrity Commission's efforts to disable the Veritas prove successful when the ship mysteriously loses all deuterium stores, forcing the crew to abandon ship to a small planetoid.
If faced with information about her life prior to her amnesia, Blake will recoil and immediately attempt to retract herself from the situation. She fears her "past life" and does not wish to be someone she is not. She encourages Tristam Core to delete a holographic version of herself, adamant that a second Sky Blake (from years ago) is of no benefit to anyone, and considers the hologram as nothing more than a dangerous ghost.

Personality
Blake is of a calm and collected temperament, receptive to criticism, and is a cool-headed thinker unwilling to take unnecessary risks. She prefers working with her staff, rather than having them work for her, and relies on her crew mates counsel for most matters - despite having served in the Shoals for longer than many of her fellow senior staff, she is actually the least experienced officer of the group, due to a case of retrograde amnesia. Because of this, she will ask questions and press for more information when she feels she does not have all the answers she requires - but she never does this guns-blazing.

Blake feels that her duty is to the crew and the ship - though she may feel comfortable with aspects outside of the Starfleet realm that her fellow crew disagree with, she will choose to side with her shipmates and work with them. An example of this can be seen when she decidedly overrules a suggestion by Jhalib Ekal to isolate the Veritas flight recorder in case of sabotage (a suggestion of which she agreed with), and opts to employ Wil Ukinix's prioritizing of engineering resources instead - she will even go out of her way to ensure that she and her crew are on the same page about such matters.

She surrounds herself deliberately with colour, having subscribed rather heavily into Ornaran colour psychology, and is considerably bright and charismatic when faced with relaxed social settings that don't involve her Starfleet uniform. Blake is occasionally referred to the 'doom and gloom' character by her fellow crew, and has been heard verbalizing worst case scenarios sometimes to a point of fault - though she is not without positivity.

It is evident that Blake takes her job and learned mannerisms within the Shoals seriously, as she thoroughly believes in the rules of engagement set for the area - repeated offenses by Starfleet vessels entering the Shoals (such as the Astraeus and the Artemis) frustrate her greatly. Because of this, she is considered by her fellow crew to have a particularly 'sharp' demeanor. When irritated, she becomes considerably cold and blunt, but if Blake is known for one thing, it's that she hardly ever raises her voice to others.

Despite engaging in many casual relationships, she still wears three rings denoting her marriage to Sabor, her Vulcan bondmate whom was killed in 2391 - located on her right hand thumb, second, and fourth fingers. Her relationships to her surviving family members are incredibly important to Blake as she attempts to reunite with her daughter. Though she is protective of her children and their privacy, she trusts others to watch over them when she is not available - such is often the case with Ayden, whom many of the crew have looked after as she works aboard the Veritas.

Physical appearance
Blake is a humanoid of Brekkian and Betazoid descent, standing at 5'10 with short blonde hair and emerald green eyes. She wears three rings on her right hand - denoting her marriage to Sabor, placed on her thumb (a plain copper band), second (a plain gold band), and fourth (a stainless steel band with emerald gemstone) fingers, respectively.

Because she is part Brekkian, Blake's body temperature is higher than that of the average humanoid - as such, her skin is surprisingly warm, if not hot to touch. She often wears layers when operating aboard Starfleet vessels, adding additional pieces to her uniform so to remain warm in what others do consider to be regular temperate environments. When ill, she does go so far as to wear thermal clothing to replace parts of her uniform or add more layers underneath it. Unless she is in her quarters, which tend to be set in the 30-degree Celsius range, she will wear comfortable form-fitting clothing when dressing outside of duty, the most skin exposed generally being her collar bone and above (as well as her hands). She will also consistently wear brightly colored but otherwise plain clothing.

That said, she thrives in hot climates, and returns to a casual getup when working in warmer environments, ditching uniform jackets and opting to wear shorts and singlets where possible. On duty, she will also be equipped with a Type 2 Mark VIII NL Aquila, rather than standard phasers.

Though she is not aware of it's cause, nor potentially of it's existence, there is a two inch long scar at the base of her lower back seemingly from a dagger-inflicted injury.

Personal spaces
Personal spaces
Blake considers her quarters to be much to large for just herself and her son to inhabit - despite the possessions of her toddler now being present, Blake's quarters feel seemingly bare, with few personal items on display. However, where she has added items, they are colourful and eye-catching, and by no means match the starchy feel of standard Starfleet quarters - a sunshine yellow blanket is draped over the couch; her glassware for some strange reason, a bright green colour; and there is a false plant on her coffee table featuring a neon blue flower. The lights are generally on 90% illumination or higher, and are warmer than the rest of the ship by ten degrees.
Blake considers her quarters to be much too large to inhabit, preferring small work areas. Her office is described as having been deliberately cluttered with items of various origin, though none are truly personal to her. The door is programmed to remain open unless privacy was required to encourage walk-ins, and is a deliberate attempt at forgoing a formal feel. Blake attached a bar to the ceiling of the room of which is used for exercise, an accompanying safety mat can also be located within the office. Shelving with various PADDs can be located to the right of the room when walking in. On the left, a display connected to the Colonial Coalition Marshals Service database updates.

Despite protesting the action, Blake inevitably moved into the Chief of Security's office, though the room makes her feel physically uncomfortable due to what she considers it's "large" floor space. In reality, it is an averaged size located nearby the CIC. The office is described as having been deliberately cluttered with items of various origin - though none of them are hers of a personal nature. Due to her personal feelings for the size of the office, the door is programmed to remain open unless privacy was required - this is generally to encourage walk-ins, and is a deliberate attempt at forgoing a formal feel. Blake attached a bar to the ceiling of the room of which is used for exercise, an accompanying safety mat can also located for this within the office. Shelving with various PADDs can be located to the right of the room when walking in - on the left, a display connected to the Colonial Coalition Marshals Service database which updates whenever the ship passes by a data buoy.

Other information
Other information
Blake is (begrudgingly) a vegetarian, though not by conscious choice of her own. She mentions to Wil Ukinix that it is a psychological result of her bond to Sabor, a Vulcan.

She's proficient in the Brekkian language of Seritonian (her mother tongue) and is also surprisingly fluent in at least two Ornaran and Vulcan dialects. Blake is a Federation citizen by marriage - as is her son by birth. Her daughter, however, is currently considered a dual citizen of Brekka and Ornara - because of this, relocating Faith to Federation space continues to face complications.
She's proficient in the Brekkian language of Seritonian (her mother tongue) and is also surprisingly fluent in at least two Ornaran and Vulcan dialects. Blake is a Federation citizen by marriage—as is her son by birth. Her daughter, however, is currently considered a dual citizen of Brekka and Ornara, making relocating her particularly difficult when Brekka creates policies disallowing permanent relocation. When the Federation refuses to provide assistance, the Eleventh and Twentieth House of Betazed steps in, as Blake is a member of the former and Ilakai is revealed to be a member of the latter.

Records of Blake's personal history have been removed from the Starfleet personnel database due the deceptive request of her mother upon false news of Blake's death, but her service record and partial medical reports remain intact. Blake was required to undergo a full review upon her return to service, and is required to attend monthly check-ups by the ship's medical officer.

This page refers to Prime Blake. You may be looking for Sky Blake (hologram) or Sky Blake (alternate).

Skyleena Blake is a half Brekkian, half Betazoid serving as Vice Chief of the Colonial Coalition Marshals Service.

She previously served as a Starfleet officer aboard the USS Challenger-A, USS Ronin, USS Mercury, USS Avandar, USS Vigilant, USS Syracuse, and USS Veritas, earning the rank of Commander. She retired from active service in mid-2398.

Physical appearance

Blake in 2397.

"You're a widow, Commander. Born out of ash and fire with just five years of life under your belt. The things that scare you are complex - they are very real problems. But some of us are simply spooked by a darkened corridor."
Kallo Ver, "The unordinary man of the Shoals."

To some, Blake may have been a controversial choice of executive officer for USS Veritas. She is highly critical of Starfleet as an organisation, perceiving its current operations as being a flawed result of increased paranoia following the events of the Dominion War.

If irritated, she becomes cold and blunt. However, she will not raise her voice when speaking to others.

Zhou: You’ve always been uncomfortable when you’ve met people from that “other” Sky’s past. The familiarity foreign to you.

Zhou: I don’t think this is as much about being offended as it is you worried you’re going to find out more about who you really were once… and maybe not living up to that. ::He shrugged.:: Or maybe just finding out how much you’ve changed.

Blake: I’ve heard about the woman I was. ::She shook her head.:: I didn’t like her very much.

Personal spaces
