PHYSICIANS' NOTES

  • SD Unknown - Elaysian Medical officer: Elaysia
    • Medical Assessment of a teen: The events surrounding minor cuts and bruises between the patients legs and deep bleeding to the knees is unknown as they refuse to talk. They appear to be an older teen who lives with parents, two sisters and an uncle. Local law enforcement were called to their home due to supposed abuse of the girls by the uncle. Details on health conditions physical and/or mental is unknown as patient refuses to talk or be willing for doctors to give them a detailed medical exam. One detail of a scar on middle female teen's back is noticed. Scar is small, faded on upper back between the shoulder blades.
  • SD 2390 - Medical Officer: Starfleet Academy
    • Medical Assessment: Arrival on Earth; Given Medical assessment: Patient was given a medical assessment due to their unique physiology. The results have been included in this report so you may know the patients (Terran) baseline. Patient is stronger than most Elaysians, being able to stand with the aid of forearm crutches (bright pink) as well as an exoskeleton. The exoskeleton is made of a strong light weight metal in two parts; Shoulders and arms as well as legs and lower torso. At this time a wheelchair is not recommended but specifications for one are listed in patient file for such occasion.

  • Photo of Melora Pazlar in her exoskeleton. Used as a reference photo for the way an exoskeleton is supposed to look due to the fact that their aren't many Elaysian's in Starfleet.
  • For Sheila Bailey's exoskeleton it includes an expansion from the traditional design in order to support her hips. This new section goes up over her hips ending just at her waist.
    • Blood pressure: Normal
    • Heart rate: 130 BPM; Patient notes a faster heart rate due to their homeworlds low gravity; 120-160 on average
    • Respiratory rate: 33 BPM; 30-40 on average
    • Eyes: Eye tracking is normal and reacts normally to light stimulation
    • Chest: Normal; Muscles and ribs more flexible due to the range of movement needed on Elaysia ll
    • Musculoskeletal system: Muscles are looser due to the range of movement needed in low gravity. Has the ability to twist more from side to side.
    • Nervous system functions; such as speech and walking: Speech, normal. Walking: The right leg moves without any problem but it more or less plants where it needs to go. The leg moves straight from the hip never once bending at the knee. The left takes a few seconds longer to catch up. Once it does it slides across the floor never once having the knee bend.
    • Motor functions and reflexes: Reflexes, mormal. Range of movement is limited due to the higher average federation standard gravity.

Patient is seen again a couple months later due to joint and muscle pain as well as a note in difficulty standing for long periods of time. The recommendation is to start the patient on a combination of strength training, physical therapy and hydrotherapy to combat the higher gravity. Pain medication is proscribed to be taken when needed.

  • SD 2395 - Medical Officer: Starfleet Academy
    • Medical Assessment: Hip injury: Near the end of her time at the academy Sheila took a fall from her wheelchair resulting in an injury to her hip. The injury resulted in mass busing and chronic pain to her left hip. This injury delayed her graduation and posting to a ship by a good couple months so they could make sure she was in the best possible shape before serving.
  • SD 238911-12 Dr. Foster: USS Narendra
    • Medical Assessment after attack at Starfleet Academy: Hip dislocation: Injury accrued during Sheila's first mission as part of the OPS crew. The way team that she meat with, included Sal, ran into a group of Klingons and later a stow-a-way. Due to a forceful backward push Sheila dislocated her hip. She was able to brace the injury in order to keep it stable until she could get back to the Narendra. Once she was able to get the injury looked at her suspicions were confirmed; dislocated hip. Doctor Foster was able to get the hip joint back in it's socket but the condition of her muscles was still in question. So far she has done nothing to either support herself more or strength her muscles beyond theoretical engineering talk.
