DEPARTMENT of XENOLOGY

"Ask and we will provide."
a Senali proverb.
The Senali are a species believed now to be extinct, one that had developed a reputation as excellent merchants and traders. However new discoveries would seem to indicate the possibility of their being some kind of genetic connection between them and the Orion.

Home System

  • Quadrant: Alpha
  • Location: Izumrli Sector (coordinates A24-0001-1302)
  • Proper Name: Nalinal system
  • Star: It orbits a class B (Blue-White) star
  • Distance from Star: it's orbit is approximately 49 million km
  • Companions: It was the only planet in the system
  • Moons: it has 4 moons.

Home World

  • Proper Name: Nali
  • Diameter: 17,016 km (10,573 miles)
  • Gravity: 0.92 standard gravity with a density of 3.8
  • Axial Tilt: 4.3%, with no seasonal changes and a distinct wobble
  • Orbital Period: 359 days
  • Rotational Period: 23.2 hours
  • Classification: M
  • Surface Water: 0%
  • Atmosphere: 0.07% pressure leaves a thin atmosphere of 2 to 3 feet over the entire surface of their world with 73% nitrogen, 32% trace chemicals, 5% oxygen
  • Climate: All life has been extinguished. This is a dead world.
  • Terrain: Numerous active volcanoes, volcanic rock and ash over rough rocky hills, mountains and plains.
  • Population: Believed extinct

History

Their world was always harsh and inhospitable with vast deserts, mountain ranges and small seas. Life evolved within the many sheltered valleys where mountain fed rivers usually ended in lakes.

Due to the environment, populations in these valleys were small and even after they mastered farming and entered the industrial age they only doubled and in some cases tripled. These small populations may also be the reason that they never had any internal conflicts, survival and the need to co-operate in order to survive fostered a universal feeling of planetary brotherhood.

Once survival which had been their major concern for most of their history was slowly replaced with a drive and desire to enjoy life things began to change. Science, technology and other advances increased, life became easier.

The populations doubled and in some cases tripled again as they developed the technology needed to advance into space. Once into space they met other species, learned that the raw resources that they had in abundance were easily traded with other species for exotic goods, foods and minor devices.

Then suddenly their sun entered into an unusual period of massive solar activity marked by numerous solar flares. Some of such size and intensity that the atmosphere and limited water on their world was destroyed wiping out all life.

Government

Historical records seem to indicate that they had a council formed of 3 members from each major community.

Description

All documented evidence seems to support the fact that they appear to be almost identical in appearance to members of the Orion species.

Physiology

As with most intelligent humanoid species they have a very complex system with specialized organs, and unique hormones, chemicals and enzymes. They are typical humanoids with most of the physical, mental and biological medical problems that seem to plague most humanoids.

This is supported by the medical data provided by those species that had prolonged exposure to and interactions with the Senali. The same is true of the remains of a crew and their ship found by the USS Belgrade. The bodies were badly damaged and extensive examination would seem to indicate the possibility of some kind of genetic connection between them and the Orions.

Psychology

Currently no documented data has been recovered to supply any knowledge regarding this aspect of their physiology.

Religion

Currently no documented data has been recovered to supply any knowledge regarding this aspect of their culture.

Mythology

Currently no documented data has been recovered to supply any knowledge regarding this aspect of their culture.

Society

Currently no documented data has been recovered to supply any knowledge regarding this aspect of their society.

Culture

Currently no documented data has been recovered to supply any knowledge regarding this aspect of their culture.

Customs

Currently no documented data has been recovered to supply any knowledge regarding this aspect of their society.

Technology

Examination of the vessel discovered by the crew of the USS Belgrade would seem to indicate that they had vessels capable of warp 5.6 and a technological capability equivalent to that of most species with that level of warp drive engineering.

Economy

The Senali were famous for being merchant traders, especially within the Par'tha Expanse.

Military

Currently no documented data has been recovered to supply any knowledge regarding this aspect of their society.

Federation Intelligence Files

A now extinct civilization occupying what is currently within Romulan space. Federation scientists believe they have discovered documented evidence that the Senali may be ancient ancestors or at least cousins to the Orion civilization. Investigations are still underway.

The crew of the USS Belgrade discovered one of their freighters floating damaged and derelict in space.
