PERSONALITY

Being segregated and shooed away her whole life, Segolene got used to be alone and do things on her own. She’s a fighter and will always go forward, no matter how dangerous it may be.

When join Starfleet only goal Segolene had was to change her own appearance, now her life changed and she want to be good scientist and successful officer.

PERSONAL HISTORY

Segolene is a child from unusual coupling between Ullian and Vulcan. Her parents met on Vulcan when her father came to learn on some of the teaching techniques at the Vulcan Science Academy. Young couple fell in love and T’klum left her mate to join and couple with Desean.

After long years of attempts and failure, T’klum finally got pregnant and couple expected their firstborn with love and devotion. But happiness of the couple didn’t last long, the child was born with painfully unusual skin and hair color. Her parents were warned that their children may have that problem because of unique combination of genes that are specific to two species, but expectance was going more toward green skin, so usual for Orions.

The shock was even bigger since nobody really expected purple skin, less lemony orange hair.

Segolene was rejected everywhere, to and for everyone she was a monster and her whole life was labeled by the fact that she was different and scary. Her parents were searching for the ways to change that, but nothing worked, at least nothing worked permanently.

Segolene was a rebel and often running away from schools and home, getting into a lot of trouble her whole life. Still smart girl managed to pass school and prepare for Starfleet Academy, where she expected to find answers for her problem.

It leads her to science. When at the end of second year she learned enough to start research, she made usual mistake, rushed before properly tested her research. Instead of testing it on a small part of her skin she took a full dose and after few hours ended completely paralyzed.

Instead of just affecting her skin compound passed into the muscles and caused loss of function in all her body muscles.

Since there was no change on her skin and hair, Segolene expected her research to be complete failure and decided to hide her actions from doctors in Starfleet Academy medical. She was even allowed to continue her study from sickbay, till almost 8 months after, the changes started. First she lost her hair and soon her skin started to get pale, till it reached almost white hue.

It revealed her dealings and she was sued for attempt on genetic manipulation, but research by Starfleet Medical prove that though the change was significant and permanent it was only cosmetic in nature and not genetical manipulation, so she was found not guilty and allowed to end Starfleet Academy.

Regaining muscle function was long and painful process, but after a year of exercises and healing, Segolene was able to walk normally again. Up to that time she gave all the theoretical exams and was ready to graduate, except for the lack of practical exams.

Daryl Reedus - Young Cybernetics Xenobiology Specialist helped Segolene when she felt most vulnerable during her first mission.

Segolene finished all her required exams, but being locked in sickbay for almost 2 years kept her from passing practical exams. She was recommended to go to the ship because that way she will have more chance to do them.
