(( Sundassa's Quarters, USS Apollo ))

:: Sun had to get to correspondence with her family, they had not heard from her since she graduated the academy. She was sure they were worried about her. She checked for any incoming messages for her before starting her message. There was one from her mother. ::

Mindysta Faranster: =/\= Sunny, I hope you are well. We got word of your graduation from the Academy. I was disappointed not to have heard the news from you directly. This is a time for celebration, you have achieved part of your goals my darling daughter. Hopefully you are closer to reaching your ultimate goal and can return home to us. We miss you. We wish we were able to celebrate with you. =/\=

.oO No doubt they celebrated anyways. Oo. :: Sun thought to herself as she continued listening to the message. ::

Mindysta Faranster: =/\= The party we had in your honor was nice even though you weren't here. Marseen was asking about you. He hasn't heard from you since the celebration for your graduation of Medical School. =/\=

Sundassa Faranster: :: As if the communication was two way. :: Mom, why did you have to bring him up. After he humiliated me.

(( Flashback ))

:: Sundassa and Marseen were inseparable until she decided to go to medical school, and even then they spent every spare moment together, being childhood friends into adulthood. Their parents thought they each other's Ba'vira (soul mates), for that matter, Sun thought so too. It isn't possible to hurt or betray your Ba'vira in an manner that would be unforgivable. ::

:: When Sun graduated from Medical School, her parents prepared a party to celebrate. Since it was a big achievement, it was customary to be escorted by someone who was supportive of the guest of honor. While her parents planned the event, Sun was spending time with Marseen, as usual. ::

Marseen: I am sure this is a silly question by now. :: He said with a grin, he knew Sun well, but it was still polite to ask. :: Would you like me to escort you to your celebration?

:: Sun was delighted, she had intended on asking him, but she wanted to see if he'd ask first. It was important for her to know where the relationship was going. His asking her further made her feel special to him, important even. ::

Sundassa Faranster: Well, I have been approached by several... :: She teased him. With the look of mock rejection on his face, she knew he was teasing too. She playfully shoved him. :: You know the answer, Marseen. I'm always thrilled to go to parties with you. :: She smiled warmly and rested against him. Now she was planning her outfit in her head. ::

:: He wrapped his arms around her in a hug, she was fun to tease back. She always seemed happy around him. ::

Marseen: I am sure, Sun, that you are imagining the party now. You know I can never live up to your fantasies. :: He joked with her. ::

:: She giggled, he was right, but he was as close to perfect as she could imagine for herself. They worked well together, she supported his endeavors, and he supported hers, and they enjoyed mingling and dancing at the parties they went to together. He was there for her after the accident with her bother's friend, comforting her for the weeks she needed it. She felt comfortable in the thought that he'd always be there for her. ::

Sundassa Faranster: You never disappoint though, Mar. :: She wrapped her arms around him too. :: You are always there for me, when I need you.

:: She didn't realize those words might have been too much for him, maybe he didn't realize how much she depended on him until then and it was more than he could bare. Maybe he didn't think the same about them being Ba'vira, at the time. ::

:: Time had passed between when he asked her, and she was dressing for the party. ::

:: Sun chose the dress she was going to wear for the party, a yellow dress that came just above her knees, had two thin pieces of fabric that extended above the fabric covering her chest to suspend the dress from her shoulders. The dress was a pale yellow dress except for a brighter yellow sash, and matching stripes, one down each side. The fabric was soft and was able to breath, it felt like an extension of her own skin. She contemplated her hair style, knowing that her hair being straight down would trap any warmth to her body, and the temperature frequently didn't suit additional heat. She opted for two braids, one coming from each side, joining in the back as one continuing down her back. Marseen had only seen the dress when she chose it, she wanted to surprise him with the finished result. She put several yellow and white flowers in her hair, sticking the stems into her braid. ::

:: She was waiting for him to arrive, staying in her room while the guests came. Several of her family members had come to her room to congratulate her on her graduation. They complimented her appearance. Several of them wondered where her escort was, some of the guests were asking where she was, and why she hadn't come down yet. She informed them that she needed to wait for Marseen. She waited almost an hour for him, when her older brother, who was supposed to be stationed on one of the ships orbiting the planet, walked through her door. ::

:: Shelther was dressed in his dress uniform, he didn't like the news he brought his sister, but he knew he had to do it. He was glad he was able to convince his superiors to allow him some time off to come down and be there to escort her to her party. He figured his presence would make the news less upsetting. ::

Sundassa Faranster: Shelther, mother told me that you weren't able to attend. I am so glad she was wrong. :: She smiled at her brother, she wasn't sure why he looked so serious, he was here to celebrate with her. ::

Shelther Faranster: I came to escort you, sis. :: He didn't know how to tell her that Marseen was in jail, more correctly being held by the military, for stealing one of their ships. ::

Sundassa Faranster: Marseen is escorting me, Shelther. :: She watched the slight muscle reactions of his face tense up, something was wrong, and he was trying to be delicate, her smile faded. If Marseen were dead, her brother would be asking her to sit; if in the hospital, he would be taking her there. No, this was something different, Marseen was disappointing her. She never felt disappointed in Marseen before, he always was there for her, and now he chose this moment to. :: What happened?

:: His sister's face went through a wave of emotions before her as she tried to deduct where her Ba'vira was. The final expression she settled on was the most heartbreaking for him. If he could, he would have ripped Marseen's heart out for disappointing Sundassa. It was Shelther's responsibility as the older brother to protect his younger siblings, especially his sister. ::

Shelther Faranster: He has been detained by my superiors. He was caught trying to take one of our ships for a joyride.

:: She took a deep breath, letting that sink in. It had to have happened sometime in the last day. She had seen him the day before, he seemed excited about the party. When did he decide that a joy ride was worth leaving Sun without an escort, she didn't know. She now had to go down there with her brother instead of Marseen, to a party for her, while he was miles away in some military jail because he thought a ride was more important. Her face flushed slightly with anger. ::

Sundassa Faranster: Did you see him? When did it happen?

Shelther Faranster: I had a chance to talk to him, early this morning. He was picked up last night, he requested me specifically to talk to him. Somehow he thought I could get things straightened out. :: He felt the weight of her stare, he had been in the service for a number of years and probably could have used a little of his weight, but considering Marseen didn't even realize the mess he caused, nor did he feel any guilt for it, Shelther didn't feel like doing the man any favors. :: I probably could have, Sun. But, his attitude was different. He wasn't even slightly worried about missing this.

Sundassa Faranster: That's because he thought you could get him home. :: The volume of her voice edged up a couple notches when she spoke. ::

Shelther Faranster: :: Shaking his head. :: I don't know if he was coming home, I read the report, the coordinates he programmed into the ship was several days away, he wasn't planning on being here today. True, I didn't want to do him any favors, but that's because he needed to explain to you rather than be free to run away again.

:: Sun dropped to her bed, not sure what to think. The man she loved was leaving the day before a big celebration for her, one that he asked to be her escort. She was being left behind by him, and her brother was right, she needed to be explained to, but right now there were people waiting downstairs and her brother was here for her, trying to do what he could do in the way of damage control. He couldn't protect her from a breaking heart, or undo it, but she knew he wished he could. ::

:: Taking a few minutes more before standing up, gathering her emotions and holding her head up high, trying not to let this disappointment show on her face. She hugged her brother. ::

Sundassa Faranster: Shel, thank you. :: She choked back the tears that wanted to come out, not allowing them to break from their ducts. ::

Shelther Faranster: You can take a moment more, sis.

:: Sun shook her head, knowing the longer she had to think about this, the worst it would be. She was going to distract herself with the party, and then decide what to do next. She knew she wanted to go to the stars herself, wasn't sure if she wanted to follow her brother or go to Star Fleet, but Star Fleet looked more and more enticing, further away and gave her a way to move on. ::

Sundassa Faranster: They waited long enough, it's my party. I won't cry though.

:: Her brother escorted her down to the party, faces looked curious, but she was sure her brother's face fended off any questions that anyone might have asked. Any time someone might start down that route, asking about Marseen, her brother's face would get serious and his jaw would set. Sun would pretend she didn't hear the question and suddenly want to dance, or she would need some refreshments. ::

:: Later she did speak with Marseen, he didn't seem remorseful, he even asked how her party was, if she enjoyed it. He told her he was curious how fast the ship could go, if it could get to the other system any faster than the recorded time. He was planning on coming back, it was just a joy ride. He didn't think he would miss the party. Even when confronted with the knowledge that it took several days to reach the system he was going for, he didn't seem phased. ::

(( End Flashback ))

:: Sun had chosen to join Star Fleet, she wasn't intending on going back to the path that had been her and Marseen. That path was derailed by a stupid juvenile act. She was moving forward, her mother was just trying to get her back home and settle down. The recording continued playing, but Sun was no longer paying any attention to it. She put together a quick response, indicating her safe arrival to the ship. She mentioned her first mission, making it sound a lot safer and nicer than it was, again not wanting to relive painful thoughts. ::

:: After she sent off the transmission, she left her room abruptly, not paying any mind to her casual dress or her hair being down. She started to wander the halls of the Apollo, exploring, to clear her head. She wasn't paying any attention to what deck she was on, or where she was going. For the most part, she was able to keep from running into anyone, there were a few near misses as her mind got away from her, but it was when she finally made impact with someone that she realized she was being inattentive, when she looked up, she recognized the face. ::
