SIM:Lieutenant Karynn Ehlanii - Old Friends and Counselors

Karynn recieves Ben Walker's response to Intentioned Messages.

((Karynn's Quarters, USS Independence-A))

::Karynn sat at her desk in her quarters staring at her messages. Somehow, even on the brief trip to Asterospolis, back to DS17, and now on their trip out to the Igloo Cluster, her list of messages to deal with had managed to get long. She had a few unread, and a few she knew she wanted to send.::

::Opening the queue, she noticed one from Ben. It was probably... hopefully... the response she had been waiting for... and almost dreading. What if...? She pushed the thought from her mind. She wanted his opinion, yes... but even if it was a poor opinion would that alter her actions? Perhaps... or perhaps she would just know the areas she needed to work on - and the bridges she needed to mend.::

::On the other hand... perhaps this would be a good message. With a deep breath and a flick of her finger, his face appeared on the screen.::

Walker: Um...Karynn. I...well first I'd like to say how sorry I am. Things have been really crazy here. Ro was hurt...thought she was going to die..but was put into Cryo...Oh she's fine now really. A bit chilled. but...um...Oh...about what you asked. Well, it's not like I'm the best person to ask. I mean that Ro would know better, not that I think anything bad of the two of you, well now. Obviously then I was a little crazier about things.

::He paused and took a deep breath. Karynn smiled - she could certainly sympathize. It had taken her how many tries to send a message of her own? It didn't take long for him to continue.::

Walker: Ok..let's try this again. Karynn, you make Ethan happy. And I'm guessing by your question he does you. You are strong willed enough to stand up to me, and forgiving enough to not hold what I said then against me. And interested in his well being enough that if I understand your question, if I said it was a bad idea for him, you'd leave.

Not sure if that's what you wanted...or needed...um... But you are good for him, and he for you. About that I have no doubt.

::Karynn smiled and breathed a sigh of relief. If Ben could see that she made him happy, then it must be true. After all, he wasn't a man who picked up on subtlety easily. Her smile faded slightly as he continued though.::

Walker: If you could...I ah...haven't really talked to him much since our...well blowout...if you could let him know...well...nevermind.

::As the message ended, Karynn knew she couldn't just leave it at that. The two of them had been close friends - and if they hadn't talked much since the incident with the Achilles, then there was a problem - and not one that could simply be attributed to busy schedules. After all, she had managed to communicate with, and even see, the Captain a few times.::

Ehlanii: Computer. Begin Recording visual message to Captain Benjamin Walker, Commanding Officer, USS Ronin.

Computer: Begin when ready.

::Karynn smiled at the imager, hoping that her mood would get through to Ben.::

Ehlanii: Ben. It was so good to hear from you. I'm glad Ro is better now - you'll have to tell me all about it sometime. Is she back to her usual antics? I'll never forget the stunts she pulled while we were staging "The Scottish Play". I'd love to see her sometime, so if you decide to reply to this, you might consider dragging her along and getting her to say hi too.

::She breathed a laugh - a habit she had picked up from Ethan- and changed gears slightly.::

Ehlanii: Thank you for your kind words. It is... reassuring to hear that I'm a positive influence in Ethan's life... and that his friends approve of our relationship. But on that note - the one of friendship anyway- I couldn't help but notice that you mentioned not talking to him since... since we were all together on the Ronin.

::She paused, attempting to choose her next words carefully.::

Ehlanii: Ben... he needs you... and you need him too. I know a lot of hurt happened - we all felt... betrayed. At least, I know I did. I...

::She paused, unsure of what to say next. With a quick breath she continued.::

Ehlanii: I'm sure you two have a lot to say to each other. And one of you is going to have to make the first move. Please don't let it wait too long. The longer one of you waits... well, the harder its going to be. So... if you have a moment when you get this, maybe you should send him whatever message you were going to pass through me.

::She took a breath in and attempted a smile, although it was a little more forced than it had been earlier.::

Ehlanii: I'm sorry if I'm overstepping my bounds as a friend. But... well, as both your friend and your former counselor, I figured it might be ok. Take care of yourself and the Ronin. I hope to see you soon. Maybe one of these days we'll have shoreleave together.  ::she smiled:: Karynn out.

::With a pause, she watched the screen in front of her register the message as concluded.::

Ehlanii: Computer, save and send.

Computer: Message sent.

::Smiling to herself, Karynn began going through the rest of the queue. With messages from the Academy to read, and a message she wanted to send to her sister to write, it would be a relaxing evening.::
