::The pirates started shooting all guns a blazing towards them. German thought they were ready this time as he hid behind a rock surface. He unholstered his phaser and looked out, but then a laser shot right by him and he hid back. He tried to look towards the other crew and figure out who was who.::
:: There were no lasers coming his way so he was able to look again and saw a body laying on the ground.::
Galven: Someone is down! We need to split up now! A team has to lure the pirates away so another team can get to that person and also into the cave!
::He then saw a Klingon pirate get ready to shoot at him, so German shot at him first and hid back behind the rock surface.::
Padix: ::faintly:: Help me...
Rosek: ::lays a hand on German’s shoulder and meets his gaze:: We have to be smart about this.
::While he was taking cover, he hadn’t realized that Lael was right behind him. He took an awkward step while crouching to look back at her. There was a long pause with weapon fire all around them as he noticed her lips forming a thin line. German knew all too well from those features that the Al-Leyan woman was about to make a pretty heaver order.::
Rosek: ::exhales heavily and taps her commbadge:: =/\=Commander Tel-ar. You, Oakes, Eisley, Ensign Harkrow, and myself will lay down cover fire and try to disable as many of the pirates as possible.=/\=
Tel-ar: =/\= As you wish. =/\= :: Tal replied even as he moved quickly and silently, getting ever closer to being behind them. ::
::As the commanders were speaking with one another, German glanced up from the rocky terrain and raised his phaser looking to see if there were any pirates heading their way. They looked disorganized to say the least as they all just moved in every direction from the entrance of the cave. He saw one fire towards them and he ducked, but shot his own weapon at them without really looking to see who he was aiming at.::
Rosek: =/\=Lieutenant Galven and everyone else, you’ll need to find another entrance to the caves or make one. There’s no way in hell those pirates will let you through easily. Then you’re to find and get the captured Artemis crew to safety. With this many of the pirates’ number here, their camp should be relatively unguarded.=/\=
::He looked back at her confused. Another entrance? This was the only entrance the Montreal crew could find. But they’ve fought better odds before so he had full confidence that his half of the away team could find those missing crew members.::
Galven: Yes, ma’am.
Fergus: =/\= Understood. =/\=
Rosek: ::nods:: =/\=When you give the signal, Commander.=/\=
Tel-ar: =/\= Now! =/\=
::Lael turned to German, her expression serious. There was a very real possibility that someone wouldn’t make it out of this fight. He turned back around to see Muvyn still lying there in between them and the pirates. He began to worry for her as he started to move from behind the rocky surface they were hiding from.::
Rosek: ::tensely:: Lieutenant, if it comes down to it--
::He started to move out from his cover to get to the crewman.::
Galven: ::murmurs:: I have to go help her.
::He felt a hand wrap around his spacesuit and he was pulled down. He stumbled back and turned to Lael with a worried and pained expression. She didn’t hurt him, but just the thought of the Trill laying there unable to do anything was painful to process for him. Memories of his sister briefly crossed his mind when the day she was taken by the Borg and he was unable to do anything about it.::

Galven: How about we play hide and seek?! You go hide!
Arlil: ::Excited:: Okay!
Galven: You go hide and I'll look for you!
::Arlil ran towards the house giggling. German smiled and yelled out his countdown.::
Galven: 1! 2! 3! 4...
::He stopped counting when he heard a rumbling all around him. He hesitated and looked all around him. He saw a cube shaped object coming down towards them and it crashed through the back of the house. He ran towards the house.::
Galven: ARLIL! Where are you?! Yell out my name!
::He heard nothing other than crumpled wood and a mechanical noise. He tried to go through the debris and saw a odd looking man pick up his sister and caught the tail end of what it was saying.::
Drone: ...You will be assimilated.
::He heard a scream most likely from Arlil. He ran as fast as he could and some debris fell on top of him, preventing him from saving his sister. He fell unconscious, but not before in a daze he saw them fade away.::

Rosek: ::lips form a thin line and she barks:: No! Listen!
::She had never raised his voice at him like that. He turned to meet her gaze and out of the corner of his eye, he could see a Bolian pirate lurking over large rock surface and his weapon came into view pointing at Lael. German reached up with his hand and pulled the pirate’s arm with all his strength so the momentum of the pirate’s own force would cause him to fall, but not before flying over them and landed with a thud on his back. Still holding onto his arm, German pointed his phaser at him and shot him dead.::
Galven: ::furrows eyebrows and breathes heavily:: I’m listening Commander.
Rosek: ::rasps:: If it comes down to it, the Artemis crew is your priority. Get yourselves and them out. Let me and Commander Tel-ar worry about the others. ::lays a hand on his shoulder and squeezes:: Your team will be looking to you for leadership.
::His first away team that he’d be leading. German’s expression turned more serious and even more professional. He wasn’t going to let the crew down. He already messed up by bringing the Trill crewman along when he knew she wasn’t ready for such a task. At the time he thought of her coming down, he thought it’d help her with her lost memory.::
Galven: ::nods:: Of course, Commander. I have full confidence that we’ll find the crew.
::She opened her mouth to speak again, but a large explosion near the caves that sent debris flying had both of them ducking for cover. He was surprised by how much force was behind such an explosion. He had a feeling Shin was having the time of his life on the Bridge as a second explosion farther away rocked the terrain.::
Rosek: ::murmurs:: Well, that’s one way to even the odds. =/\=Rosek to Tel-ar. We should act while the pirates are still confused.=/\=
Tel-ar: =/\= Go. I will keep them occupied while you get the rest of the crew to safety. =/\=
::When his view was clear from the debris, he saw the counselor and the ensign nurse run over to attend to Muvyn. German approached them and listened intently to what they were saying, hoping that things were okay.::
Fergus: I think we should stabilize her as best we can. We won’t be able to get him out of the suit to treat the injury until he’s back aboard the ship.
Cattan: Hand me one hypospray with Delactovine and one with Tricordrazine
Fergus: Understood. :: He administered the two hypos per Cattan’s direction and closed his kit. :: I’ll help her get to wherever we’re led until we get out of here.
Cattan: Right, but you can’t stay here either!
Padix: I::beat::please…
Galven: ::speaks softly:: It’s okay, Muvyn. Don’t speak. Let the medics help you.
Fergus: No checking out on us now, Padix. Come on.
Cattan: I can’t help her this way. We need to get her too…
::The moment that Muvyn succumbed to her injuries and died, German sucked in a deep breath. He glanced away for a second trying to gather his thoughts and turned back to the others that were on his away team. He had to be strong for all of them. He reached out his hand and laid it gently on the ensign’s shoulder.::
Galven: We need to get going, ensign
Fergus: R--right...behind you…
::When he looked back up at the surroundings, he noticed a clearing northwest of the entrance that looked to be leading around the cave. He straightened his uniform and regained his composure. Hoping to look like the leader they needed him to be.::
Cattan: If only… that damn suit… ::she rarely cried, but this was the first time she was on the verge of it::
Galven: ::clears his throat:: We need to go over there towards the clearing. Crewman Cullin, go check if the area is clear. The rest of you follow him. I’m right behind you.
Cattan: I’ll be right behind you… won’t leave her here of course, we have to make sure that she get’s beamed up…perhaps…
Cullin: ::nods sagely:: Yes, sir.
::German looked on his team went in the direction he told them to go and nodded to each of them. He turned back around and crouched down next to Muvyn and brushed her hair, then closed her eyes. She looked to be at a frozen state of peace. Then it hit him that perhaps the medical officers aboard the Montreal might be able to have enough time to save her.::
Galven: ::taps his commbadge:: =/\= Galven to Captain Mei’konda =/\=
Mei’konda: =/\= Readiing you, Lieutenant. How can we help? =/\=
Galven: =/\= Would it be possible if you lowered the shields so that Crewman Padix could have an emergency transport to Sickbay, sir? She was caught in the middle of the firefight. =/\=
Mei’konda: =/\= Yes. She’ll be baack here in a few seconds. What’s her condiition? =/\=
Galven: =/\= She didn’t make it. With Doctor Skyfire’s skillset, I believe he might be able to revive her. Galven out. =/\=
::A few moments later, the familiar blue shimmering light enveloped the woman and she was no longer in front of him. He stood back up and as he was about to leave, he said a quick prayer and stumbled backwards.::
Galven: ::softly:: I’m sorry, Muvyn.
