((USS Darwin, Deck 1, Captain’s Ready Room))

:: When Captain Renos returned to the Darwin, ne’d soon found the ship’s orders and departure details. There was a message from the USS Excalibur too for certain members of nir senior staff – it was very interesting. Ne was going to enjoy delivering it along with a few other notices. Without further delay ne tapped nir commbadge, it was time to rally everyone together once more. ::

Renos: =/\= Captain Renos to all senior staff, please attend a meeting in conference room 1 in one hour. Renos out. =/\=

((Deck 1, Conference Room 1))

:: Renos entered the conference room half an hour later with a large box containing several smaller items. Ne set up the long glass table with the usual jugs of water and glasses although it often seemed ne was the only one talking, and drinking the water for that matter. Ne went ahead and poured a glass of water for nemself and sat sipping it until the first of the crew arrived. Ne greeted the crew and engaged in light small talk until everyone arrived, at which point ne stood up to draw everyone’s attention. ::

Renos: Good afternoon and thank you for your punctuality. We’ll be departing once matters are concluded here, so I’ll keep this brief and simple. First of all, I have a message from Fleet Captain Nicholotti for Commander Walker and Ensign Logan – for your hard work on the Excalibur in relation to the Prometheus event – something we’re all familiar with here on the Darwin too… you are hereby awarded the Prometheus ribbon. Congratulations.

Thomas: Response

Logan/Walker: Responses

Anyone: Response

:: In what was now becoming custom, ne allowed Mister Thomas to do the honours and hand out the ribbons. It was taken a while for these little bad boys to catch up to the officers who had earned them, but they were well earned indeed. It was good to see that things like this didn’t fall through the cracks. ::

Renos: For actions taken to mitigate tensions between religious leaders on Asav, Ensign Lyldra and myself are awarded the Diplomacy ribbon. Congratulations Lyldra, I couldn’t have done it without your support.

Thomas: Response

Renos: Thank you.

Lyldra: Response

Anyone: Response

:: Captain Renos was very grateful to receive the award. One might say they were only doing their duty but then such could be said in response to most awards. The point was that when difficult tasks were completed with excellence and flair it was nice to recognise the hard work behind it and basically say thank you. So ne appreciated it a good deal. ::

Renos: I am proud to award Ensign Mpeba with the good conduct award for showing forethought and bravery to protect a dignitary from possible harm. Your actions do us all proud Ensign. Well done.

Thomas/Mpeba: Responses

Anyone: Response

:: The final award ne had to give out today had multiple recipients and for that reason ne’d left it until last. ::

Renos: Because of our actions in helping the Asavii explore their history, while maintaining and building upon our relations with them the following people have been awarded the Joint Meritorious Unit Award – Captain Renos, Commnders Thomas, Rennyn and Walker, Lieutenants Traenor and Valdivia, Ensigns Lyldra and Mpeba, Mister Jellico and recruit Iy. Congratulations! I’m really proud of what we’ve all achieved together in such a short space of time. This crew is destined for great things. ::Enthusiastically::

:: Ne took another sip or water while people congratulated each other. Once things started to quieten down a little once again ne continued. Business was almost concluded but there were still a couple of things left to do. ::

Renos: Right then, Mister Traenor I need to borrow you for a moment, so please come and join us up here.

Traenor: Response

:: Ne waited until he’d had a chance to scrape back his chair and come up to the front before carrying on. The man had been through this dance a few times now and surely must know what was about to happen… ::

Renos: I have watched you grow in confidence these past months. I know it hasn’t always been easy for you but you’ve tackled every problem thrown your way with dignity. Your organised, intelligent approach to problems and leadership style has ensure you’ve kept on top of at time astronomical demands and has won over your department and peers. That’s why I am very proud today, to promote you to Lieutenant Commander with all the responsibilities and privileges that go with it. Congratulations.

::Ne beamed at him and held back from doing something unprofessional – like hugging him::

Renos: Alright then, Ensign Logan, Mister Jellico and recruit Iy are to meet with Noro Tanner in the security officer for a department briefing.

:: From an organisational point of view the meeting would be the perfect opportunity for shifts to be assigned and work to be delegated. More interestingly it would also allow the department’s most junior addition would get to meet with more experienced officers. Since most of the crew were new to the region it wouldn’t hurt for them to run security drills, ensure they understood the most prominent threats in the region so they could do their jobs effectively. ::

Renos: The rest of you – man your duty stations and let’s get under way.

:: Ne headed towards the door, signalling that the meeting was over and returned to the bridge where ne took over from the relief officer and sat down in the big chair. ::
