CHRONOLOGICAL HISTORY

Ryan was born in the most boring place possible. Earth. His parents worked and travelled all over the planet, working with species at risk and at times “rescuing” species that had become extinct. This kept his family seeing interesting areas of the planet, but to the young Ryan, it was all a green and brown blur. His favorite moments were in the lab, seeing the tools they’d use and the manic looks in his parents faces when they’d come to the breakthrough they were working toward.

Largely bored in the field, Ryan took to disassembling and reassembling the tools they’d brought with. Enough so that the elder Horns took to bringing spares. A defining moment came when they found that Ryan had modified the low energy bug deflection screen to generate a repulsion field.. that he was using to float around the camp.

Sent to the academy at a younger than normal age, Ryan quickly dove in. He flourished, not only on the technical work required, but with all of the different people he met. A genuinely open and friendly personality, his only issues ran into the command level tests. While not willing to cheat the system, he constantly argued with his instructors that the standard “no solution” tests were short sighted. That even in the most dire situation, there were options that weren’t seen on the surface.

Graduating from the academy, he was quickly snatched up by the Utopia Planitia Shipyards, joining the Starfleet Corps of Engineers. He quickly came to be known both for innovative ideas and for a willingness to help wherever he was needed. His biggest challenge came from waiting for what he felt were unnecessarily restrictive testing, sometimes resulting in leaps forward.. other times leaps forward.. into a wall.

Ryan tends to be open and a touch gullible at times, always willing to believe the best in any situation. However, when backed into a corner, that optimism leads him to solutions that others think are too far-fetched.
