Lieutenant Commander Rustyy Hael, Chief Engineer on Starbase 118 Ops, has the heart of a child and a mind stuck in the 80's.

"I'm not crazy I swear, I was just born in the wrong time"

Stats

  • Full Name: Rustyy D Hael (Pronounced Hail)
  • Race: Terran
  • Gender: Male
  • Telepathic status: None

Appearance

  • Height: 5'5" (and 3/4's)
  • Weight: 220lbs
  • Hair Color: Dark Brown
  • Length of Hair: Blessed with a full head of big curls, he is known for his constant bed head look.
  • Eye Color: Dark Brown
  • Skin Tone: He has a reasonable tan, one that was achieved through practically living outside at the academy.
  • Birthmarks, Scars: His Hands and arms have a fair share of scars from tools slipping out of his hands. His knuckles have been roughed up through his constant knocking of them against whatever is nearest. Recently got a tattoo on his inner arm, what it is has yet to be shared.
  • Build: Thick but muscular. His broad chest makes it difficult to climb into tighter areas, but he finds a way to do it anyways.
  • Face: Smooth at the edges but not a baby face
  • Eyes: Observant with a hint of teasery
  • Mouth: Thin lips that seem to have a mind of their own. They can be seen constantly moving even when he's not talking.
  • Arms: Broad shoulders and large forearms. Has big hands and thick knuckles.
  • Legs: Slightly bow legged.
  • Carriage: Carries himself as though he's not interested in what's going on around him. Almost a lazy stance. But is confident when in the engine room, you could say he stands a little taller than.
  • Poses : More often than not, he can be seen leaning against something or standing with a hip lean.
  • Taste in Clothing (when off duty): Below casual standards. He always wears long sleeves, even if it means sweating to death. His mama bought him old styled jeans for his graduation, which he wears all the time. two of the three pairs support rips. Uses suspenders to hold them up.
  • Shoes: Lace up steel toed boots. Never know when you might need to kick something and not hurt your toes.
  • Voice: Baritone with a hint of southern drawl. Tends to butcher the standard language. The more hurried he is the worst his speaking gets. Sings like Tom Waits.
  • Handedness: Right

Manner

  • Quarters: A mess. Clutter everywhere. Stacks of schematics; old trucks, muscle cars, and starships. Best of luck finding anything.
  • Favorite Room: Tucked away where no one can see him. Usually close to the Warp Drives, the hum makes him fall asleep.
  • Habits: Runs his hands through his hair, never making it any better. Grunts at everything. At the Academy he was called the "Noisemaker" for all the strange noises he makes. The most interesting ones come out when he's focusing. Singing 80's and 90's, if not older, songs under his breath. A guitar or drum solo is also not uncommon. Uses chewing tobacco when he can get a can.
  • Mannerisms: Stand off -ish, due to his sense of humor. His mind runs on slapstick and tongue in cheek skits. His blunt honesty it matched only by his constant need to 'lighten the mood'. He has been told that he is most like his father when it comes to his humility. His father always use to say “Humility is just how individual’s become an individual.”
  • Hobbies and Pastimes: Pulling things apart and attempting to put them back, emphasizing on 'attempting'. Humming songs and drumming on anything close by. A raised eyebrow had only ever encouraged him to be over dramatic in his air guitar skills. Looking through old truck and muscle car pictures and schematics of ships.
  • Likes: Big dogs. refurbishing old things. Arguing and bickering commonly called debating. Drinking, it makes him even more out going. Chewing tobacco
  • Dislikes: Selfish people and those who take themselves too seriously. Big bugs, found that out during his final test at the academy....
  • Ambitions and Goals: Not to die because of his mistakes. It would only take one set of bad wiring, and life support shuts down....
  • Achievements in Life: Graduating school, (all of them)
  • Disappointments in Life: None... Yet
  • Temperament: He has a short fuse and can get angered quickly, but he covers it up with a unique sense of humor that bats at people around him.
  • Mental problems: To many to list, but just to name a few; he has been known to talk to himself out loud, he is his own music playlist and entertainment. He considers inanimate objects to be alive, with their own personalities and to have feelings of their own.
  • Physical Limitations: Humidity, heat does not bare well with the arctic tundra land lover.

PapaHael.jpg Steve Hael
Father
Age: 52

Rustyy's pa is a charismatic and outgoing man. He's known for his generosity and ability to manage repairs with little to nothing in the way of tools or parts. And he'd never take a dime for his services. Though an uneducated bartender and cook, Steve has been sought out for social gatherings, township counsel and other notable positions. All of which he makes time for, along with his family. His favorite word is , 'eh', and he loves fried anything. Steve was only 19 when Rustyy was born and being a pa that young wasn't easy. But he was happy to do it and to have several more children with the same woman. In his own way, he is proud of how his kids are doing, even Rustyy who seemed to make something of himself far beyond the stars.
MamaHael.jpg Sabrine Hael
Mother
Age: 51

Rustyy's mama is a light hearted woman, with a grizzly bear love and fierceness to her. She knows everyone from town and even remembers those who've passed through the little diner she's worked at for 22 years. She's known to help anyone, sometimes even without being asked. A counselor for those who stumble in. She always knew she'd be a mama, though never imagined it to be of so many. Blood related or otherwise. Sabrine is known to bring in all sorts into the fold of her family. She defends their way of living, no matter how 'backwood' it might seem. She took it harder than she'd ever admit when they forced Rustyy to leave. Even though she was the one who stood at the door and wouldn't let him back in. She was only 17 when Rustyy was born, a baby herself. It was one of those things that brought her closer to her eldest born.
JacksonHael.jpg Jackson Hael
Brother
Age: 30

Rustyy's folks waited a few years before having Jackson. Only 3 years apart, they grew up close. Ever since he was little, he looked the opposite direction of Rustyy. Sociable and charming, heavy into books. He couldn't change out batteries with a manual if he had too. But the opposite attributes lead to them learning to lean on one another. He always had lofty goals and a desire to leave. Something just called to him. He currently is in his second semester in Starfleet, working towards HCO.
VivianHael.jpg ’ Vivian Hael'
Sisiter
Age: 28

Vivian is the third in line of the Hael kiddies. She's mentally slower than the rest - than anyone really. She was born with water in her brain causing developmental issues and stunts. Her brain has a hard time connecting what she wants to say into what she says, creating a language all her own with broken sentences, words and grunts. She's quiet but curious, always exploring areas. Rustyy always felt the need to protect her from others. He never treated her like she was less than anyone else. She'd been the most saddened when Rustyy left for school, not able to fully understand why. When she and the rest of the clan visited him on the Constitution, she decided she was going to move with him to Starbase 118. Unknown to Rustyy or his folks until she turned up at the station. She is currently making friends with a hybrid little girl.
ColtHael.jpg Colt Hael
Brother
Age: 25

Colt is the fourth heathen. And wild child is what he is. He can never sit still or focus on reading. Having such a need to be active, Rustyy's folks have had to put him into every sport known to them and then some. He wants to join a pro hockey team, but it's harder than it looks. He had to bulk up some more before they'd even consider bringing him on. But it hasn't slowed him down any. And he's still working on it.
HaelTwins.jpg Lily Hael
Sister
Age: 23

Lily is the fifth born, though only by a few hours. She's Sebastian's identical twin. Never seen without her twin, Lily is the con artist. Quick with words, she could make a Ferengi blush and agree to terms that never benefited him. Its with this skill she's done well in school. Though she lives outside like an animal. A love of hunting and living even rougher than what they already do..
HaelTwins.jpg Sebastian Hael
Brother
Age: 23

Sebastian is the sixth in line, Lily's twin, and the one with the longest name. He was named after Sabrine's grandfather who passed that same year. He is always right beside Lily with a coy smirk plastered on his face. He isn't as quick tongued or plotty as his sister. Instead, he's the inventor. Thinking up and build wild traps and camps and little contraptions to make things easier. Like water catching or fishing snares that don't hurt other wildlife. He's very conservative and conscientious of wildlife preservation.
DieselHael.jpg Diesel Hael
Brother
Age: 22

Diesel is the baby, the last one Rustyy's folk will have. (despite Sabrine wanting another one) He was a pup when Rustyy left, so the two never were close. Instead Diesel looked up to Jackson. Mimicking him and trying to be like the older brother he knew. Though more like a country bumpkin. A cute charm to him. He doesn't have much in the way of lofty or sizable goals, though if anyone wagered he would be the one to end up just like his Pa. And there's nothing wrong with that.

title=Hael Friends
Wyn Foster.jpg Shar'Wyn Foster
Friend
Wyn is one of very few Rustyy has allowed to get close to him. A best friend of sorts. They are still in the early stages of friendship, but it looks to be one of Rustyy's better choices. Plus Wyn-wyn makes tummy aches and hangovers go away.

History

title=HaelPreStarfleet
Rustyy was born in old Grayling, Alaska, a one horse kind of town. The oldest of seven children to Steve and Sabrina Hael, a pre-wedding surprise to the couple. So he was technically at his parent's wedding. He grew up fast and strong despite his size, always being shorter than most of his peers. He fought from an early age, trying to gain ground and respect of the other boys. Later the fighting would change some, and would be in defense of his younger siblings. He had his fair share of broken noses and busted lips, some from fights and others from accidents caused by his own actions.

Grayling, Alaska was about as backwoods as one could find on Earth. Left in the dark ages it seemed, by the people that continued to live there. They had little desire to change their ways, and the twon resembled as much. The people lived off the barren land, from planting during summer seasons and heavy hunting and fishing when it was managable. Rustyy would spend a good deal of time hunting and fishing, from traveling to Koadiak to shot bears to cutting holes in the ice when the moose stopped coming out or during breeding season.

During the winter months, when the sun never shined, Rustyy would find himself gazing up at the stars. In the night sky he could see the constellations as far as the human eye would allow him. He was sure if he ever left home that it would swallow him whole. Because of such a beautiful sight, it almost seemed unreal to him too. And when he couldn't be outside because of the cold or the amount of snow, he spent a good deal of time tinkering with common household items. Sometimes helping - sometimes putting them out of stove top for a day.

As his sibling grew in number, he regularly was left in charge of babysitting. It made him incredibly good with children, though it could be because he hadn't grown up himself yet. It also made him good at some level of leadership and being in a group.

The fall and spring were the best seasons for Rustyy. It was when the sports were in full swing. Most of which were isolated to the winter wilderness, at least the real stuff. He played and did as much as he could, being a very active young man. Though not fond of running, a lot of what they didn't only require one to move quickly... Not necessarily meaning run. He played ice hockey, not professionally, but for fun on school grounds. The kids played it for sport as much as they did for the freebie chances to get into fights. That's what good hockey was about. Rustyy was around 12, during one game, that had a fight that escalated to all players being involved. In those brief moments of wild limbs and dangerously sharp skates, someone's skate flew through the air making contact across Rustyy's forearm. It would be the only serious injury they had that day. No one having seen so much real blood spilling out of a person. An animal yes, a person... It was a little scary. Rustyy had been mostly unfazed, though more worried about it staining his nice dress pants he was specifically told _not_ to wear. The local doctors patched him up and wrapped his arm in a animal tan to keep the wound from splitting open. It was cheaper than a cast.

He dog sled, from speed races to endurance races. Starting that from a very young age. They always had litters, upon litters of puppies to be trained for pulling. And those dogs usually ate better than the families that owned them. His favorite dog, however, had been a stray that didn't much belong in the cold. A towering hound dog, warmly named Biscuit who hand taken an instant likely to baby Rustyy.
Little Rustyy and Biscuit

When it comes to his light heartedness and the ability to be so outgoing, it was obvious it came from Rustyy’s father. A man known for his more outrageous behavior. If it wasn’t for cameras no one would have ever believed the tale of when Steve Hael, Rustyy’s father, and the small group of city councilmen having way too much fun. Every year almost like clockwork, when the sun shined all hours of the day and a great deal of the ice melted off. Folks from neighboring towns would come together for a bit of fun and to celebrate surviving the winter and the wish good luck for the hunting season. There were always much drinking and food, children playing in what snow was left. They all would come to where the ice was broken up to go swimming. Now the men swear that there was no booze involved, and those that knew them might believe them. But the four councilmen came out onto the ice, ballad music playing in the background, in white tutu’s, hand in hand. They proceeded across the ice to the open water and jumped in roughly all together. It was quite a scene for all those present, some even scarred for life.
Steve Hael...Rustyy’s Father far left

Hael Family swimming in the summer
But not three years early, during the same event, Rustyy had gone out in a blaze as well. With nothing but a pair of old boots and a winter cap. He ran across the ice, fell, and slide all the way to the open water and went in with a splash. It was plain to see that the apple did not fall far from the tree.

When he was about 16 years old Rustyy almost died from hypothermia. He and his younger brother Jackson had gone outside during a blizzard to check out why their mother’s gas stove had stopped working. he had left the younger brother alone for mere seconds to retrieve a part. But when he came back, Jackson was nowhere to be seen. His brother had chased after their sister Vivian, who he later found had fallen through cracked ice. As foolish as it might have been Rustyy plunged in head first after her, sending Jackson to get help. The instant cold sent his systems into shock, but still he fought on. The amount of time that had passed was unmeasurable. But relief warmed Rustyy’s heart went he finally pulled Vivian from the unwelcoming depths. His father arrived just in time to catch Rustyy when he went unconscious. He spent almost 6 weeks in Anchorage’s main hospital after being airlifted from Grayling.

Yet still to this day, the cold is his preferred temperature.

His mind wasn't ever focused on popularity... No one could be popular wearing at least five layers of bulky insulated coats. Or wearing lovely red or tan long johns that could be seen when you bent over and you're thick layer raised up. Or by wearing heavy boots that took real effort to move and you could only wobble when you walked.

Rustyy's tattoo
That, and everyone looked the same. Most people had beards, women included though not at big, filled with crumbs, crusted with dip and booze, and iced over from the howling wind of the day. No one shaved, their natural hair helped to insulate and keep warm. Those without facial hair had to wrap layer upon layer around their head, face and neck to keep as much of the chill off. Leaving only a shadow over their eyes and their button noses an almost silly cherry red.

So he never paid much attention to girl either. He figured it wasn’t worth the drama.

Rustyy was young, though not rebellious. Cognitive but not smart by most standards, driven but no focus or direction. Between being untamed and in desperate need of structure, it was apparent to his ma and pa that he needed something more than what the quiet little town could give him. He was becoming restless though thankfully never destructive. Unless one counted the regular fights and bruises he acquired. In his defense in between having kids and hunting there wasn't much else to do. But it was enough that even the local council suggested he leave or risk getting into serious trouble.

So he left. Leaving behind everything he knew and everyone. Chasing after stars that never realyl caught his attention beyond the "just pretty to look at". In his journey to Starfleet academy, in the beat up old chevy he'd mangled together, he stopped off at a shabby tattoo parlor. Ink wasn't popular back home. So, without his parent's knowladge he covered up the scar from his youth with a tattoo that that held special meaning to him.

Due to the taboo of it from home, he chose to wear long sleeves, keeping the ink covered from the populace. Practicing for when he visited home.

title=HaelAcademy
When Rustyy arrived to San Francisco, he learned very quickly that the rest of the work was hot... Very hot. And not just the people to look at, but the temperatures. it didn't take long for the wild child - thought really young adult - to be constantly found without certain articles of clothing. Most commonly a shirt, and often times without shoes. It was the first time he could go outside without shoes and not worry about frostbite or fending off some kind of animal that had gotten under the house.

It was his first time from home and better yet the first time seeing - in person - any other species. Even some of the animals were new to him. Rustyy wasn't sheltered by no means, but having had no drive to look beyond his front porch, he never noticed. He would burn like a lobster, his first year in the southern states. And several years afterwards too.

He had no idea what he wanted to do, having made the decision he thought best thought on short notice. Rustyy's grades were lackluster, the first time he tried to get into school - he failed... Completely failed. But he couldn't go home. So he found a part time job for the semester and moved into a shady apartment building. he worked as the only thing he knew how - a handyman. Which landed him in some pretty interesting situations.

He was a tinkerer, a fixer-upper, a mechanic. Anything he could get his hands onto he could figure out, fix and even make better in some cases. And yet everything he couldn't see he fell hard on his face at. But he managed through barely scathed.By the time he went to apply for a second time he had an idea, rough, but an idea of what department he thought he'd like. And with only one point to spare, he was accepted into Starfleet. Though he was told to maintain certain averages or he'd be dropped.

The new world, as he liked to call it, brought more to his attention other than the sun rose and set every day - all year long, sometimes you couldn't see the stars, and it was hot. It also shared with him that the universe was full pretty girls, ones without facial hair. Though most seemed uninterested in him. The few times he'd gotten lucky was after getting nearly blackout drunk. Which created some questionable choices...

Oh and that it rained... A lot. He preferred snow over rain.

title=HaelStarfleet

Rustyy stepped down as head of engineering to help focus his efforts on civilian Ops programs for retrofitting and upgrading the commercial sections of Ops. This position seemed to be made conveniently available after his younger siblings were sent to stay with him while his father received medical treatment for an illness they refused to go into detail on. While he knew there was more going on then what he was told, he took charge and did not argue with his new charges. He didn't mind having them so close anyways.
After a few months Rustyy’s mom called and made an unusual request. They were looking for a genetic match for his father to help with curing him. And out of all their children, Rustyy was the closest match. He requested time off and sent out with the rest of the Hael children herd, back to Alaska. It took time and patience and strong family support but as of Sept 9th his father was announced cured and on his way to a full recovery. Rustyy spent a little more time visiting and long talks with his mom about his return and possibly the return of his siblings back to Starbase 118. Vivian will follow him, and the twins showed a desire too.
Hael’s arrived back on Ops, the twins eager to pick up where they left off, the oldest ready to sink back into mechanical mayhem and Vivian was ready to return to the world she was coming to love, not that anyone other than Rustyy could tell. Vivian had started to make her own routines. Instead of trailing behind in her family’s overprotective shadow.

Of course the time back was short lived. After he’d just gotten the ship back into … shipshape he was hassled for a civilian project. One that was promised to only take a few months. A few months quickly became just over a year. Abby and Benny Suite were master minds for planet redevelopment, city infrastructure and artificial atmosphere. At least on paper. Which meant they had to bring together teams to do what they had created. Rustyy was one of those engineers. They viewed him as someone who was willing to do the work, in any condition with a big silly smirk. And that's just what he did. On the outskirts of war ravaged planets, he and a team of others brought a dead planet to life… So to speak. it mirrored Pluto, Mars and even Earth’s moon. A wasteland, with cities built right on top. True, a feat. Rustyy brought to the table actual application of new systems, due to his work on Ops. The other reason he was picked for the team. He met new people, talked engineering and mechanics till they passed out, and was some how picked to be the new caregiver to one old dog

Rustyy has quite a path of broken parts trailing behind him. From the truck he left behind in a storage unit near San Francisco to all the ships and stations he's served on. Each one with their own opinions of the quirky, insane engineer.
After graduation, he was shipped of to the USS Apollo-A as an engineer. No real surprise which department he's land in. But like most of his life since leaving home, there was little time to settle down or get to know anyone. They were plunged into a dangerous chase. Three convicts with terrifying backgrounds had escaped and the Apollo-A was hot on their heels. Rustyy played a game of cat and mouse, repairing the damaged systems all the while trying to keep the ship from separating. Which he was unsuccessful at doing. Lucky for Rustyy, the ship was the only priority he had, unlike the rest of the crew who had to joggle recapturing the maniac on board and capturing the other two. For the most part h was left to his own devices, other engineers busy at work, not interested in greeting the greenhorn. It left him perplexed and unsure of himself. Something he struggled with since childhood.
Shortly after all the craziness, the Apollo docked and shore leave was on everyone’s mind. But the fun never had a chance to start. Rustyy, like the rest of the Sr. staff was directed to the holodeck for some kind of training. Being as fashionable as he was, Rustyy arrived late and was locked out of the room. But the nosy engineer, using the internal sensors and visuals was able to see what his co-workers were up too. And it was nothing pretty, unless running in a dessert was pretty… Rustyy - gingerly - broke into the controls and created big rain drops to pour on his fellow crewmen. But by mistake, also caused the environmental ship controls to also rain everywhere on the ship. Of course he wouldn’t fess up to it. It was after that, that others really took notice of him. Which was saying something with the accent he carried.
Rustyy was transferred to the USS Constitution-B shortly after, along with most of the crew from the Apollo. And also put in charge of engineering. He figured no one else must have wanted the job for him to get it. Things went smoothly until a distress call was picked up and the Conny went into action. All seemed normal, unless completely gutted engines were normal, with the crew they were assisting. Rustyy crawled around inside the Jeffrey tubes, hunting down the source of the problem. Which he found to be Borg parts draining the main systems. In an attempt to stop from further damage Rustyy electrocuted himself while on the horn with his new Commanding officer. Once Rustyy returned to the ship, only slightly fried hair, he was welcomed by the threat of Borg nanites running ramped through his precious engines. It took days to repair and shore leave is never long enough
Rustyy while on Earth in 1914
Oh the menotomy of scanning space. Nothing of interest to Rustyy, so he spent most of his time tinkering with the engines and trying to keep his sleep schedule somewhat normal. Which was hard with being an Alaskan native. After oversleeping once again, from a to late of a night, Rustyy was woken up by being unceremoniously tossed to the floor from his bed. He did what he could to fix and manage the systems but they would need some type of fuel to kick start the engines back up. 1914 had some of the most stuffy clothes and Rustyy was forced to wear them so he could travel to Earth and gather missing parts and things needed for the ship. 1914 also was rather unsanitary, more so around their docks. Rustyy after avoiding getting shot, tripped and fell into the most horrendous water… And drank it. Shortly after, he was found by most likely pirates and was able to obtain a ship filled to the brim with gunpowder and fireworks. Who says the little things don’t make boys happy? After the ship returned to normal space, Rustyy was left with a not so normal tummy problem. Bacteria and microbes crawling about making him miserable. It was then, during a late night sappy decision, that he got to know the Chief medical officer a little more. An Andorian who had traveled down to Earth with him. Rustyy found that the man was pleasant to be around, the first friend he'd found since ... leaving home really.

After a much deserved shore leave and resettling into current times, which for Rustyy seemed to be more difficult than normal. His heart had been stolen by the past. He snuck on a brand new, well actually old, two-cylinder, diesel, trunk motor which made him very happy. And most of a tug boat. However, over shore leave he very nearly lost it. Another visit from Starfleet intelligence, he was under scrutiny for the illegal, out of time, stock he'd graciously acquired. Told that the good would be confiscated, Rustyy did the only thing he thought made sense.... He tore it all apart and sent it to the storage locker he had left his truck in. There wouldn't be much space in there for a while. Rustyy hoped he didn't find something else he couldn't live without.

He and his fellow crewmen were launched head first into their next mission when a mystery begged to be solved. They found a long lost Starship, the Unity, which had been missing for nearly a century. Many stories about what might have happened to her were told to young cadets, Rustyy being one of them. He sure did love a good ghost story. And in person, the Unity left much to be desired. Though Rustyy spent most of his time chasing his tail trying to fix things on all decks. His childish mind kept him preoccupied, playing unrealistic scenarios through his mind’s eye. It was a more taxing mission in regards to keeping the ship together and trying to get the power back. It was like something was sucking it out as soon as they got it. Every step forward took them three back, which was taxing for the chief of engineering who only wanted to play with the older engine model. But at long last, he and his pretty slick staff did the impossible. A common trend for Starfleet engineers and him specifically.

After such an unending, gerbil wheel mission, shore leave couldn’t come faster. Rustyy took this chance to call his mama, which also meant talking to all his siblings. Which turned into twenty questions, mostly revolving around why his mama didn’t have grandbabies yet. Which he had no good answer for. But he did find that the next oldest child, Jackson, had successfully joined the cadet ranks within Starfleet. After chatting with his family, he turned to the bottle to have some fun and get a good night's rest. Morning would come too early, though would bring some pleasing news. It was nice to get noticed by the higher ups. Shore leave would also give the curly haired man a chance to bond more in a growing friendship with the CMO, Wyn Foster. They traveled to the holodeck in search of good fun and cheesy games. Spending that kind of time with another living person showed Rustyy just how much he missed it. Between being homesick and not wanting to ruin his newest very real friendship, made him start to deal with feelings he had long learned to suppress.

Shore leave is never long enough, even more so when feelings have been pulled out and now have to be pushed back in like stuffing in a teddy bear. He did his best to pick himself up off the floor when the call came from the FO T’Mar to meet with her. There was a temporary shift in power and someone had decided that he, Rustyy D Hael, would make for a good acting FO .He agreed, under the impression they were just going on a simple run. Fate had different plans, where he would have to not only leave his precious engines, but lead an away team on a diplomatic engagement. Nothing could be more out of his league. And he turned out to not be overly useful, managing to be detained and unable to help when people from the Conny were kidnapped. But he was good at agitating the guards

It seemed like shoreleave came and went but didn't bother to tell Rustyy it had stopped by. As per usual it seemed, he was found deep inside the ship. The mission about did the same. MOst of the work belonging to command and those who do the talking. But he was pulled away to lead an away mission. One he looked forward to with his friend Wyn. They split up in order to get a better feeling for the planet they were transplanting some people too, nothing seemed out of the norm. That was until Rustyy stumbled upon some heavy sap that seeped into his blood and made him high enough to think he was a worm... And a cheetah... And then pass out. That was all he remembered from the mission, until he work up in sickbay. And when he did, he woke up to find his friend badly beaten. Rustyy blamed himself for it and never really addressed those emotions. Instead bottled them up and hoped everyone would forget about his major screw up.

As he left sickbay, the Conny returning to familiar space, there was a surprise waiting for him at the station... Several actually. Apparently it was family day, and Starfleet had managed to bring out all of his immediate clan. Now stuck in mixed emotions, between happiness and self pity, Rustyy welcomed his kin folk on board. All of whom stuck out worse than he did on the ship.

He wouldn't get to stick it out on the Conny. Transfer paper came in that sent him to Starbase 118. A massive station. At first he was convinced that this was punishment, his failure resulted in his move. Even after the Conny's captain told him otherwise. It was a hard apple to swallow. Rustyy arrived in time to meet the Captain of the station - though barely enough time to check out the layers upon layers of engineering decks. It was obvious he wasn't transferred because he did something wrong.... Either that or someone thought the more work he had the worst off he'd be. Which wasn't at all the case with Rustyy. But he struggled with leaving his friend behind, almost like he'd betrayed Wyn somehow by walking away.

There was nothing slow about Ops and it didn't take long for the next adventure to begin. Given a disguise - that he didn't remember agreeing too - and a new name... One he also didn't remember agreeing to, one Colton Rustbucket, found his way with others into an illegal race. Most of his time was spent tuning the racing flyers or seeking out particularly questionable parts. Once the race began, it was all he could do to keep the flyer from peeling apart. The track was laid out well enough to eat weaker ships. Per usual, Rustyy couldn't keep things from blowing up around him. He very nearly took out the entire station the race was held at, once it had ended and a winner called. Why? Because somewhere deep in his brilliant mind, that was the right thing to do.

Ops were full of party people. And Rustyy liked a good drink. They celebrated their various victories in one of the hundreds of clubs and bars the station had to offer. Though the only reason he made t there was because of Zel. A Cardassian/Bajoran hybrid who he met while racing around the galaxy. After the beer ran dry and everyone went their own ways, Rustyy received word that he had a visitor. One he never expected. His sister Vivian had stowed away to join him on Ops. He was warmed by her want to see him more and stay with him. But also felt real concern. What if something happened to her? It wouldn't have been easy to get her home so for the time being he decided to keep with him... That was, after a long brutal talk with his mama who had a number of words on the subject.

4 Hael’s arrived back on Ops, the twins eager to pick up where they left off, the oldest ready to sink back into mechanical mayhem and Vivian was ready to return to the world she was coming to love, not that anyone other than Rustyy could tell. Vivian had started to make her own routines. Instead of trailing behind in her family’s overprotective shadow.
