Personal History

Winters is the son of two Joined Trill. Father is an award winning architect, mother was a world famous athlete. The only goal in Ruben's young life was to work towards Joining. Intelligent and perceptive, he attended the renowned Trill Science Academy and emerged with high qualifications in both mathematics and magnetics. However, Ruben's biggest flaw was his overconfidence - assuming he was a certain choice for Joining he fared badly in front of the selection committee and was rejected. Nursing a bruised ego and feeling like a failure to his parents, Ruben dropped out of public life on Trill and applied to Starfleet Academy a few weeks later. This time he specialised in spatial phenomena and sensor equipment although his scores were mediocre at first - his tutors claiming he was hesitant and kept second guessing himself. After 4 years Ruben has regained some his former confidence. He remains dedicated and focussed but is rarely impulsive, preferring now to have facts to back him up. He also remains bitter and embarrassed about his past.
