Roox Deana is Penelope's older sister. Deana has ADHD and OCD tendencies; always switching from activity to activity. As a child she was always trying to learn as many new subjects as she could; were she ended up falling in love with baking and antique dealing. In her late teens she meet her husband Ryan Scott and had a son, Flynn Scott, with him at the age of 20. Due to her ADHD and OCD she was never present in the relationship, so now even though they are still married they no longer live with each other, for the time being.

Roox Penelope and Andrea Munger meet during the 239611-12 mission on board the USS Narendra, while treating patients. During shore leave of 239701 the two of them meet up again on the Star Base, striking up a conversation as well as ending up in the night garden before going to break up a bar fight. They haven't known each other long but Penelope started developing a crush on the Martian woman the second she saw her sitting at a cafe on the Star Base. Quite quick did they become girlfriends. The couple is now engaged.
