FROM STARBASE 118

FLEET WIDE EMERGENCY

Star Base 118 is currently under a state of emergency quarantine. A highly contagious disease, Kirojen Strain, has broken out on the starbase. Anyone who is currently on StarBase 118 MUST stay in the immediate area. The computer will seal off all sectors of the base, this meaning of course that all decks will be divided into quarters and then sealed off. Each sector will be be filtering its own air, water, food, and waste. We hope to have this emergency resolved quickly.

Any ships which have left the SB within the last 7 days must return so that they can be quarantined inside the ship bay.

NEWS FROM THE YOLANDA WARS

USS PANTHER

The U.S.S. Panther on her maiden voyage for the Federation (the Panther is a captured D'Derix Class Warbird) is currently investigating a smuggling ring which is attempting to take classified federation starship components accross the front in order for the Romulans to examine them. The Panther has already stopped one such shipment and is now headed deep into Romulan territory to eliminate the the ring at it's source.

USS Centris

The Centris has reason to belive that Founders are interferring in the affairs of Alpha/Beta Quadrant peoples, instigating this war and perpetuating its continuation. They have found three Shifters aboard a cloaked vessel, the Blue01, in the Garstein Cluster. In addition, they have discovered a constructed portal from the Gamma Quadrant to the Garstein Cluster, as well as a Romulan Scout. Now, it seems that at least one of these Founders has assumed Romulan form in an attempt to raise tensions between our peoples. You are advised to test the humanity of those you encounter and to beware of a potential Shifter presence.

PROMOTIONS

Congratulations to the following officers for their promotions.

  • Maiken Bajim, Captain of the USS Panther
  • Dave Weidner, Lieutenant Commander of the USS Panther
  • Callium Treetus, Lieutenant Commander of the USS Nova
  • Alexander Wilkens, Lieutenant of the USS Issanah
  • Jasen Rendary, Lieutenant junior grade of the USS Panther
  • Tericion, Lieutenant junior grade of the USS Nova
  • J'hakara Dyphinian, Lieutenant junior grade of the USS Nova

CURRENT SIM PLOTS

USS ALLIANCE

Due to recent attempts by the former Starfleet officer Commander Vash on the crew of the Alliance, we have been ordered to find him, and bring him back to Starbase 118 for trial. The only lead we have is the registry number for his escape craft, which has as it's home port, the trading station at Genora prime. This station is known to be past the edge of Federation law, and therefore is home to all the refuse of civilization that hides there. We will be inserting an information team, undercover, to find his trail, and end this menace once and for all.

USS RANGER

USS RANGER is engaged in a classified mission. She departed SB118 Stardate 237310.29.

USS NOVA

The Nova was exploring the Garstein Cluster when it discovered a gravimetric well. Inside the well was trapped a one hundred year old Federation Vessel, the USS Kirojen. After towing the vessel out of the well, it was discovered that three Federation officers were held in stasis on the ship. During our transit, with the Kirojen in tow, back to SB 118, we learned that the stasis bound officers were infected with Kirojen Strain, and that consequently we were as well. We are currently in quarantine on Star Base 118 attempting a cure.

INTERVIEW

This month I am interviewing Lieutenant Callium Treetus, Second Officer and Assistant Trainor for the USS Nova. Lieutenant Treetus is a male Terran, born on Deep Space 4.

Why did you choose to join Starfleet?

Before Starfleet things were not good, The first ship I served on was the Remus, a cargo hauler that ran out of the Veridan sector, I worked as a plasma relay technician on her, well I did before she was destroyed by a warp core breach that is. I was one of only a few to servive that accident and I guess it made me look at my life from a different perspective. What with my father being a Starfleet officer and all I sort of fell into starfleet as a way of surrounding myself with something that I was familiar with and I really have not looked back since.

You have an unusual posting. Why did you choose to work in training?

Comander Rauch is a very good CO, and I enjoyed working with her whilst I was under going the training program myself. And what with all of the upheavals in my life to date, the Nova was really fast becoming a home away from home. Well now a little further down the road I really have not looked back on my decision to stay, I enjoy life here and instigating new and exciting training routines is'nt really as borring as it sounds.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Well in my time as a trainer on the Nova I have had to command several old ships (Exelsior, Kirojen). These ships have hardly been what you would call state of the art, but they did give us a chance to experiance a side of ship life that we most of us don't experiance very often. As for my biggest challenge, well as a trainer Cmdr Rauch and I have a big challenge every time we gain new personel (star fleet expects the best in terms of their staff, and its up to people like me and Cmdr Rauch to make sure they are up to it!) My time commanding the USS Exelsior on a battle sim was quite a big challenge, the crew I got assigned had to remain on the Exelsior for quite a while, after the Nova was quarenteened, and to say one or two of them got restless would be an understatement!

Can you relate a favorite story from your time in service?

Well let me think! The time I took an away team over to an asteroid, that turned out to be "Blue 01" was a memorable time. The thing was at first we did'nt know that the asteroid was just a holoshield and so when we beamed over we got quite a shock. Contact was lost between us and the ship and after a bit of looking around we came across a wounded alien, he/it turned out to be a shape shifter (the one that is curently on the Centris) well I left my medical officer an one of my Ensigns with him/it and then took a cadet and my other Ensign for a further look around, well to cut things sort we interupted a social gathering of some of the inhabitants of the ship, and they were not best pleased by the interuption, one of my lads got shot and so I ordered the other one to drag him to the others while I kept them at bay. The end result was that I got shot in the arm and got split up with the others (ohh and I got a few of the hairy mutants before this wall came down and seperated me from them) after that I came across a Romulan scout craft in one of Blue 01's cargo bays (The now renamed USS Darwin Star- curently serving on the USS Nova) and made my escape!

Your favorite story involves being shot at? Terrans continuously amaze me. But the story is involving. What do you do for fun when you are not being shot at? When you are off duty.

Well I suppose my tinkering with gadgets comes pretty much up there, I get it off my father who is a Lieutenant on Deep Space 4, he was allways messing around with some gadget or such thing when I was a youngster. I also like to get on the holodeck as much as I can, so that I can persue white water rafting and fly fishing, I especialy like the Alaskan and Albrea IV rapids and riverways, and am allways looking for new and exciting river programs. Well between my tinkering and my rafting I find most of my time is taken up!

What are your plans in Starfleet? Do you hope to make Captain?

Well as I am second-first officer on the USS Nova I have come a long way in a short space of time! but yes I think my aim would be to eventually become a Captain of my own ship! although I would dearly like to be a first officer for a while longer to get to grips with how everything is supposed to run and also learn the ropes of how a competent and resourcefull captain runs a ship! As for when this will come about, I have been offered one or two posts as second officer on other ships but at this time I feel working under Commander Rauch would be the best thing for me as she is really the epitomy of a good captain (although for some reason she does not hold the rank)
