Phillipa's parents were engineers aboard the freighter Salvare, as a result, she spent much of her childhood playing around in it's engine room. When she was thirteen, she was deemed old enough to assist in the operations of the ship. Given her parents positions, and the inherent risks associated, she was given a limited role in inventorying the supplies that they had. By the time she was sixteen, she had progressed into the role of procurement specialist, and was in charge of ensuring that the ship was always equipped with all the tools and stocked with all the supplies they might need for their freight run. Having managed the Salvare's stores for so long, eventually she decided that she'd like to try her hand at a similar role in Starfleet, and left aged 19 to attend Starfleet Academy's Enlisted Training Program. After a successful year of study, Phillipa graduated with qualifications in Inventory Management and cross training in Engineering and Operations.
