Palen like everyone of his kind partook in the Great Hunt upon reaching his 18th birthday. Sent into one of the many nature preserves across the planet unarmed, he tracked and hunted a lone Porava over the course of five days. As per custom, he was only able to utilize weapons he crafted with his own hands. His particular hunt took him roughly ten square kilometers before he finally managed to corner and bring down the primate but not without suffering extensive wounds to his right arm. Palen survived the confrontation but just barely. Having stumbled out of the preserve with the carcass moments before passing out from blood loss.

Species note: A Porava is a savage, predator. One who can move through the trees as easily as it moves along the ground. They have enhanced senses, an inborn cunning and are easily as strong if not stronger than any member of the Worene. In some ways they resemble a giant ape but they have a tough leathery skin, massive jaws with razor sharp teeth and impressive claws that allow them to climb with ease.

The Porava are a protected species who are kept within the boundaries of a select and limited number of massive nature preserves. Great effort has been expended to ensure that the population level stays constant and many of them are grown in special tanks and then released into the wild once they have reached full size.

Due to their intelligence, highly developed instincts and natural tendency towards savagery they very quickly adapt to the vast jungles of the nature preserves.

Thankfully there were Starfleet medical personnel on Fescon, a medical ship the USS Highlander, a medical ship that was there to offer the Federation member species some technology and medical training. They rendered medical care to him, as per the request of his own people the heavy scars left behind from the hunt were kept in place. As such, the fur on his right shoulder is thinner than the rest of his body.

Having made it out of the preserve alive, his hunt was deemed a success, giving him the right to mate. Even though his life was saved afterwards by the Starfleet crew. Grateful to their aid, he sought enlistment in Starfleet immediately.

Palen adores nature and when possible is often found in an arboretum, or in the holodeck running one of many ecological programs, many tailored to match his home of Fescon. All of his non-Starfleet attire is engraved or decorated with various natural iconography, vines, flowers and such. He also has an assortment of jewelry of primitive make with similar designs that he's carried with him since leaving home.

Like other Worene he will almost always accept a challenge of some physical test or competition, though he tends to prefer one-on-one matches he's not opposed to team sports/activities.

Having served through the Dominion War and several other conflicts he is haunted as many a Marine by the lives served with and lost during the course of his duty. Most particularly the unit he served with during the Dominion War.

Osiris tends to refer to individuals younger than him as cubs.

Career History

Upon enlisting Osiris declared a Marine Major and entered into the Marine training college. Believing it to be the best area to put his particular skills and experience to best use.

After his second year he begins receiving extra training to become one of the first Forward Scouts and gradates as 2nd Lieutenant.

When the Dominion War began in 2373 he was sent to the front lines. Being assigned to various different regiments and units within. Rarely actually on the line, being sent alone far behind them into enemy held territory Osiris was frequently tasked with hunting down and eliminating Jem'Hadar. Able to hunt them despite their 'shrouds' he proved to be a valuable asset. His action directly result in saving his attached unit several times throughout the war.

During one of the last campaigns of the War he was tasked with destroying a ketracel-white supply depot, and one of the last supplies of such in the region. Along with the accompanying Jem'Hadar detachment. He slew the soldiers, but was unable to prevent the stock of the addictive drug from being relocated before he could destroy it all. As a result, the supply reached a larger force of Jem'Hadar who might have been ineffective during the upcoming battles. Due to his failure, his entire unit was wiped out nearly to a man. Osiris managed to barely save the remaining twenty three by joining them on the lines and providing cover fire to permit their evacuation.

Post war, he was stationed on DS9 until the Gorn Conflict of 2383. When he was reassigned to the front once again as a Scout.

2385 He returned to the Marine training College on Earth to receive additional training and to pass his experience on to other Marines by instructing other Scouts.

2391 He is once again reassigned as a Scout on the lines of the Maquis Threat. Though this time he is also acting with supervision from SFI as his training meshed well with that of their operatives.

2395 He is once again sent elsewhere, this time in light of the dangerous nature of the Par'tha Expanse and the events of Devron, is posted aboard the USS Atlantis as apart of her Marine contingent.
