Commodore Ossa V'Airu, assigned to extended service in the Gamma Quadrant circa 2398-2399. Ossa V'Airu is an officer of the Federation Starfleet, currently assigned as commanding officer of the USS Oumuamua. She served as a tactical officer and an operations officer early in her career, and she served as a starship commander with the Eighth Fleet during the Dominion War. V'Airu appears to be fully Vulcan at first glance, though her black Betazoid eyes give her heritage away. Following her parents' example, she is not a follower of Surak and practices little traditional Vulcan philosophy, and so identifies as V'tosh ka'tur. Commodore V'Airu serves as the official Starfleet liaison to the United Dominion of Planets (UDP), an emerging power in the Gamma Quadrant created by former Dominion thralls and allies in an attempt to emulate the Federation. V'Airu and the crew of the Oumuamua discovered the UDP in the aftermath of the near-destruction of the USS Thor, and in the absence of the Thor from the Gamma Quadrant, Oumuamua has become the primary ship in the region. Service History Ossa served through the Dominion War aboard the USS Crow Dog, first as chief tactical officer and, later, as commanding officer. The Crow Dog was assigned to the Fifth Fleet, which saw action primarily in the Beta Quadrant until the last few months of the war, at which point the Crow Dog and several Fifth Fleet taskforces observed extended service in the Gamma Quadrant. Following the end of the war in 2375, then-Captain V'Airu requested and was granted a respite from shipboard service.
