The Orion Free Traders are an established Orion group whom operate and deal with major Federation allied races (as well as those not affiliated with the Federation).
With the decimation of the Orion Syndicate, the Free Traders were allowed to flourish and redeem the Orion civilization with the hope that one day, the Orions may be able to join the United Federation of Planets.
