Those eyes are of a grey hue, much like the clouds heralding a storm. Her ebony hair is kept fairly long, falling just past her shoulder blades. Somewhat petite, her lithe figure moves with a grace and poise that hints at her experience as a dancer. Personality Nesre calls herself an ambivert. She enjoys people and will generally seek out the company of others, spending time among them, listening and connecting. Participating fully in social events, she exudes a quieter form of enthusiasm when around others. At the same time, when the day is done, she enjoys a good, hot cup of tea and a book with some soft music to settle down and enjoy. As much as she loves people, she also appreciates time to herself, though she will always deny that if anyone is ever in need of a caring and listening ear. History Early Life and Schooling Born as a slave to an enslaved mother, Nesre and her twin brother, Malak, never knew much about their father, just that their mother, Lisha, was sold to their master while she was still pregnant. From an early age, she learned not to incur the wrath of the man who owned them, and were working at their mama’s knee from as far back as she could remember. When she got older, she was assigned to the master’s daughter as a personal servant, following around the child everywhere she went and tending to every whim and desire. In 2377, their Orion master was caught by the Syndicate for trying to cheat him, he was killed, his family also taken to slavery, and all his property seized - including Nesre, Malak and their mother. While on a ship that was taking them and others to be auctioned off, a Starfleet vessel intercepted and brought the slaves aboard. Given sanctuary, the three found themselves on Earth and a chance to start a new life. With the opportunities before them, Lisha encouraged her children to dream big and work hard, but the young woman struggled to deal with the trauma of her experiences. Seeking counseling, and under the care of thoughtful officers, she found ways to process and cope, among those dancing and painting as outlets for her creativity. Because of its positive influence in her life, Starfleet appealed to the girl, and after years of studying diligently and with helpful tutoring, she passed the exams and was accepted into the Academy in 2384. Originally, Nesre sought to take the medical track with a minor in psychology and finished in 2392 with the intent to serve as a doctor. During her residency, she found that while she enjoyed helping people heal their physical ails, she was drawn more to helping them with their mental ones. Turning around and returning to the academy, she used the next two and half years to finish her secondary degree in Counseling, graduating with that in 2395. Originally, she was posted to Sarvon V, a colony established for those, much like her, who had sought sanctuary with the Federation, coming from harsh and traumatic pasts. Late in 2397, she was called to the USS Thor to serve as another counselor aboard the vessel. While Nesre loves people, she also has a heart for animals. All her life she has found that she has a certain knack with them, and in general, they tend to respond positively to her. She is registered as a tribble owner, keeping one therapy tribble, mahogany in hue, and two sugar gliders, who are also used as therapy animals when appropriate. Connections Family Lisha Salo - Nesre’s mother still resides on Earth. Like her daughter, she took advantage of the opportunity of an education and has become a school teacher for primary aged children. Malak Salo - Nesre's twin brother and younger than her by half an hour. The two have been reunited with her placement on the USS Thor.
