History:

Naela was born and raised on Trill, and had an unremarkable childhood. Her father, a Doctor and her mother, a Teacher; saved their money to send her to the best school available to them, as was her older sister. With a solid academic record behind her, it was expected that she would follow in her older sister's footsteps and apply for a symbiont when she came of age.

Deciding against it, Naela decided to break free from her comfort zone and apply for Starfleet. Her parents were understanding and supported her decision to join Starfleet, knowing she must choose her own path.

Family History:

The Pax name cam from one of Naela's distant relatives on her father's side, Vemore Newan, who became the first of his family to be joined. He was paired with the Pax symbiont, a momentous occasion for him and his family. Joining was something Vemore had always worked towards, and due to his excellent marks, was granted an older symbiont. While thrilled at the life experiences he gained and knowledge he was entrusted with, the thought that he might be the last host for Pax, saddened him greatly.

It was then he decided to give his children the Pax name, to carry on through the generations, and ensure the symbiont was never forgotten.

In honor of this, and to ensure the name was not lost, Naela's older sister gave her son the Pax name as well.
