Marlee Whale née Xai, formerly Marlee Tan, appeared, in mysterious circumstances, aboard the USS Independence-A during a brief temporal displacement in early 2388. Her identity was unknown when she arrived, but was revealed when she awoke after a prolonged period in a coma. When she appeared she was wearing a uniform vaguely Starfleet in styling but one not seen for some time; subsequent investigations revealed she was from an alternate universe.

Formerly the First Officer of the alternative version of the USS Ackerman from that timeline, Marlee is now a civilian trying to deal with temporal and universe displacement in a universe where nothing makes sense and nothing is how she remembers it.
