Kyle was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on Earth's North American continent. As a teenager, he participated in various sports while maintaining some of the best marks in his class. Having grown up with a mother who served as an emergency medical technician at their local hospital, Kyle followed in her footsteps by choosing to go to medical school. Rather than pursuing traditional studies in medicine on Earth, he decided to enroll in Starfleet Medical, where he believed he would receive the best training and his talents could be used for the greatest good. Like his mother, Kyle also specializes in emergency medicine.
