Description
Physiology

Klowahkans have been shown to sport feathers of varying colours (including green, white, black, red, yellow and blue)[3] and are the same height as the average humanoid species.
Originally designed as a defence mechanism, Klowahkans are capable of puffing their feathers in an attempt to make themselves appear larger to ward off threats. However today, this act is seen as embarrassing[4].
Such as common with other bird-like species, regurgitation is sometimes a part of their eating process [1]. Among food critics, a small tool in the shape of a beak was utilised to emulate this becore the morsel was dropped into their beak [1].

Mythology
Society
The most revered members of their society were food critics, which function as scholars and have nobility titles [1].
Replicated meals were considered blasphemous, and making bland dishes was heinous enough to be imprisoned in flavor jail, where none of the meals have butter; furthermore, those that failed to uphold Klowahkan values would have their name written into the "Book of the Flavorless", and could even result in the offender's family being banished from the "Great Seating Chart" [1].
Conversely, a Klowahkan losing their sense of taste was considered the worst thing to happen to them [1].
Culture
Above everything else in Klowahkan culture, food and culinary science was placed on top. Their culture and social constructs all revolved around eating and the best meals packed with flavour. The sole reason that the species developed any kind of space travel was to discover strange new meals [1]. To not exist for the purpose of adding to known foods or being a chef was frowned upon, but not illegal.
Klowahkan language, when translated using the universal translator was, for a time almost exclusively translated to various food-based word and metaphors [5]. This has earned Klowahkans a reputation for having an annoying overuse of metaphors (at times removing the point of what was being said), however not to the extent of their Tamarian cousins. One one-food related saying they have been known to use was "Great Feathered God" [6].
Customs
All arrivals to Klowahka, whether guests or prisoners, were welcomed with traditional amuse-bouche [1]. Occasionally diplomats will offer this as a greeting when off-world [7].
