Jana’s life was relatively uneventful until adulthood. She was the youngest of four siblings and the more driven by science. Her father was one of the district leaders of Methas Gurin planet while her mother was a marine biologist. She was raised immersed in culture, self-development ideals and the altruist example of her parents. At the end of her father’s eleven years term, the family decided to move to Betazed where her parents would participate in an academic exchange program.
At Betazed she decided to apply for the University and get a major in applied physics. Later, inspired by her mother’s work, she pursued a Ph.D. in energy wave fluid dynamics with practical applications of transwarp spatial anomalies. During her time on Betazed, she met Amarri Qewirot, who later became her spouse. Unfortunately after two gestation attempts, both babies would have to be aborted. The doctor's diagnosis was some kind of genetic incompatibility. The fact alone, plus some infidelity cases of her husband, completely ruined the marriage, and Jana became divorced one year after completing the Ph.D.
After the death of her father, the entire family returned to Methas Gurin but she decided that it was time to try something else. With the support of her family, she applied for Starfleet Academy as a scientist.
