Irina's native language is Russian, though she was exposed to Italian and German at an early age through her study of music.  She learned English at the Earth Defense Marine Academy and spoke it for most of the 221 years of her first Starfleet career, though she also learned basic Romulan and Klingon at the academy.
During the 219 years marooned on Kjenta II, Irina learned Vietnamese when working closely with Dr.Lan-Ngoc Treng, Columbia's chief scientist and engineer.  She isn't sure if her learning was accelerated due to the fact that Treng had exerted subtle mind control on her and the rest of the Columbia away team during those long centuries or not, but it remains a rather unusual proficiency for a Russian security officer.
Irina started studying Bajoran in secret (and in earnest) after marrying Oddas Aria.  She had hoped to surprise her wife on their next visit to Bajor, but it slipped out accidentally on the Eagle's bridge as Irina reacted to a boarding party led by a Bajoran.
