Born St. Petersberg, Russia, January 10, 1977 (Age 37)
Irina had an extremely close friendship with Dimitri Popov, a neighbor boy in her apartment complex growing up. The two were inseparable and were closer than siblings all through their childhoods. Out of school they both enlisted in the marines together and were only separated when Irina was hand-picked for a long-term exploration mission on the USS Columbia. Dimitri is the father of Irina's daughter Katya. They were unofficially married over a long-range comm relay with plans for a real ceremony on Irina's return. He died of old age in 2232 waiting for Irina to return and was clearly long dead when she finally made it home.
5'6"
130 lbs (looks like 115)
Dirty blond hair
Brown eyes (pupils permanently dilated and numerous flecks of red from flash injury in Afghanistan)
Languages: Fluent in both Russian and English, she is also conversational in Arabic and Urdu (leaned in captivity) and Spansih

Irina Pavlova is full of surprises and anyone who thinks this woman is going to be a pushover is in for a world of pain and misery. Poking, prodding or probing her is likely to prove exceptionally dangerous to your health. Having gone through and come out the other side of a turbulent and difficult time personally she’s chosen to pursue a non-traditional career. Irina is breaking out of the mould and showing an independence of mind all while raising a small girl. The girl’s father is out of contact.

Irina has had a tumultuous and somewhat tragic life thus far. She and her father fled the Soviet Union in 1986 following the execution of her mother for an unspecified "crime against the state". Receiving asylum in 1987, Irina naturalized as a United States citizen in 1994. From there her life seemed somewhat normal, graduating from Redondo Beach High School in 1994, receiving a bachelor's degree in political science at UCLA in 1998 and a masters in public administration in 2000. In 2001 she was scheduled for a November 1 class at the California Highway Patrol Academy, but following the tragic events of 9/11/01, she joined the United States Marine Corps and was immediately selected for pilot training on account of her "better than perfect" 20/10 vision and exceptional physical fitness.
Grace was the Chief Medical Officer on Irina's first ship, and is Katya Pavlova's godmother.

Commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2002, Irina was immediately deployed to Afghanistan as a medevac helicopter pilot. Irina flew over 300 combat evacuation missions until her Blackhawk helicopter was shot down in the Tora Bora region. By this time she had been promoted to the rank of captain.
Irina survived the crash, but was captured by Taliban forces and kept prisoner by Mullah El-Arrain, a Taliban commander, for the next nine years. During that time she was repeatedly beaten, tortured, raped and generally just not treated very well.
Katya
Freedom came when one of the mullah's wives determined that Irina was pregnant, and in the middle of the night untied her bonds and set her free. Irina left the compound, but not before killing all twelve of the men in their sleep except for El-Arrain whom she woke up before killingShe made her way to the US Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, and was repatriated to the United States and medically discharged.
Katya Pavlova was born on April 2, 2170 and went into cryogenic stasis on November 11, 2171. While Katya slept during the entirety of Irina's 219 exile, she did age in stasis at a vastly reduced rate, emerging at the physiological age of 4 instead of twoInitially behind her age group developmentally upon awakening, Katya has caught up quickly and is now an extremely bright 9-year-old, though one raised with some very odd values by her highly unusual mother.

Since her discharge in 2012, Irina returned to Redondo Beach, but found the familiar surrounding and large population to be too much for her to handle. She answered a job posting for a bouncer at a bar in the mid-west, and has been in Ranvensville ever since. Since arriving in the state of _______, The killing of Mullah El-Arrain has not been forgotten and Irina was able to obtain a concealed handgun permit through the county sheriff's office because of two attempts that have been made on her life by Taliban agents operating in the United States. Both attempts obviously failed (as Irina is still alive), and the two attackers were never found by authorities (but were found by Irina). She carries a 1937 Walther PP .380 pistol that her grandfather received from a Nazi general upon the surrender of German forces after the battle of Stalingrad in World War Two. The pistol has Nazi German Wehrmacht markings and is kept in a mahogany case, along with a picture of her grandfather shaking hands with the surrendering German general.

The pistol was passed to Irina's father, who started teaching Irina to shoot as soon as they immigrated to the United States as well as enrolled her in Aikido. With her exceptional vision and hand-eye coordination, Irina is a natural marksman and quickly set records at Marine Corps Boot Camp and when not flying evac missions, competed on the Marine Corps combat pistol team in Afghanistan. Since her return from captivity she spends much of her free time practicing her shooting skills, fanatically exercising and working on her Aikido. Irina has had her black belt since she was 19, and since joining the Marines and especially since her escape from Taliban captivity she has stepped up her training and completely changed focus from competition to real combat. Irina is also very strong, having been extremely athletic all her life, and more so since her return to the United States as she has adopted something of a maniacal fitness regimen. Irina has physical strength that would be considered above average for most American men, and the fighting skills to make her a formidable opponent indeed.
Irina's daughter Katya is the child of one of the Taliban fighters, probably Mullah El-Arrain, and has his black hair and dark eyes.
Aurora
Irina was injured in Afghanistan and medically discharged due to the complete loss of all color vision and the inability of her pupils to constrict. The result is that she must wear sunglasses in most lighting, super dark ones outdoors in daylight. She also has no color vision whatsoever, though sometimes she thinks she can see hints of red, yellow and orange. She watches the sunrise and the sunset whenever possible, trying desperately to see color. She also took some shrapnel in her left side leaving some impressive scars and nerve damage that makes fine-motor control of her left hand a bit challenging (usually squeezes things too hard). She has occasional muscle spasms around her left eye that is unpredictable and appears much like a nervous tick, but is actually quite random in occurrence and is not connected to emotion or situation at all. It has been decreasing in frequency since the crash, and now occurs perhaps two or three times per week instead of almost constantly just following the crash.
AJ and Irina met as soon as she was transferred back to the Embassy from the Atlantis. For reasons unknown their brief meeting created sparks and those sparks led to a relationship between the two women. After a passionate courtship Irina and Aurora were married, but AJ was tragically murdered on their wedding night.

Irina also suffers from pretty severe PTSD, though by lying to the VA counselors her PTSD is listed as cured and she is currently only receiving treatment for her eyes.
Irina's medical discharge was honorable, she receives 75% disability payments from the VA and was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart, among numerous other lesser decorations.

Irina used to be an outstanding violinist but playing the instrument is painful and sloppy due to the nerve damage to her left hand.

Jazmine Snow: Jazmine was given up for adoption at birth, Aurora went to see her after her mental breakdown. After Aurora left Jazmine's home life spiraled out of control and now she is broken but ever determined to be in Starfleet like her mother. Jazmine meant more to Aurora then anyone will ever know and AJ regretted giving her up for adoption. With her mother dead, Jazmine is now under Irina's care as an adopted daughter.

<!--
Kai'la is a native of the planet Mercadia III, a pre-warp planet that Irina visited during an away mission as part of the crew of USS Excalibur-A. Kai'la was then an eager student with goals of joining her world's fledgling space program, but due to interference by the Excalibur she became a Prime Directive violation. Rather than allowing Kai'la's memory to be wiped, Irina gave her a choice of returning to her world with the memory wipe or remaining with Irina as her ward.

Kai'la accepted Irina's offer and Irina became her guardian, and later her sponsor for Starfleet Academy.

With the death of AJ still less than a year behind her, Irina never expected to find happiness again, but at her commanding officer's wedding she thought she may have. Irina and Aria started dating, and despite her best intentions not to, Irina found herself quickly and suddenly falling in love.
Irina and Aria dated for 9 months, and then while away on shore leave to Bajor they eloped suddenly and had a hasty though traditional Bajoran ceremony. Irina takes her vow "to protect" extremely seriously.

Irina was the oldest of four children, and while not the best of them academically, she was always the athlete of the family. From gymnastics in her childhood years to track, polo and rugby as a teenager, Irina was always an overachiever when it came to any test of strength, endurance and coordination. All of her coaches in the various sports hinted at olympic-level talent, if only she would stick with a particular sport long enough. Sadly, Irina usually got bored with an activity far too quickly to truly become world class. It was only the violin and shooting that she stuck with for any length of time. The violin because her father, a violinist in the St. Petersburg symphony would likely kill her if she quit, and shooting because she liked the noise and staying interested just involved increasing distances, reducing time or introducing movement to her targets.

After high school her only real career options were military service or music, and while a talented violinist, she figured it would be easy to maintain her skill while serving in the marines, but once on an orchestra military service would forever be out of reach. She and neighbor Dimitri Popov joined the Earth Defense Marine Corps and attended the academy together. Her marksmanship skills quickly attracted attention at the very highest levels of the marine corps, such that she was pulled from the academy a year early and sent to the newly formed Starfleet Academy for special cross-training as a naval security officer, hand-picked by Commodore Vittorio Moretti, the commanding officer of the USS Columbia for his historic five-year exploration mission.

Starfleet, 22nd Century

Pavlova and Popov by this time were romantically involved, and unknown to either of them, Irina became pregnant on their last night together before Columbia's departure on July 20, 2169, the Columbia's mission not coincidentally starting on the the bicentennial anniversary of man's first walk on the moon. At only 22-years-old and a newly commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, Irina was the only marine on Columbia, and was her chief of security.

Baby Katya was born 9 months into Columbia's mission. Two years later, Columbia emerged a battered hulk on the other side of the Aurix II wormhole, and lacking life-support, Commodore Moretti sent an away team to the only planet in range with even a remote possibility of sustaining life. Katya along with most of Columbia's crew went into stasis, while Irina was part of that away team to the planet Kjenta II, barely L class on a good day.

Irina spent 219 years on Kjenta II. The planet, much like the Ba'ku home world, has special properties that affect living creatures on the surface. The away team members all found themselves getting younger, if such a thing was possible, until they stopped at their physical prime. For Irina who was only 24 at the time, she simply remained the same age. Doctor Treng and Commander Lennon, both in their 40s, reverted to their mid 20s. Nobody ever got sick, and wounds and injuries, unless immediately fatal, healed at a shockingly rapid rate.

The away team was stuck on Kjenta II because of another side-effect of the unique planet, which was the heavy ionization layer in the atmosphere that sucked all power from all equipment, to include their shuttles on the way down. Crash landed without working weapons and communications, the away team had to fight off barbaric savage tribes descended from the advanced humanoid species that had, 4 centuries earlier wiped themselves out in an apocalyptic war.

Essentially immortal while on Kjenta II, the brilliant scientist Dr. Treng set them to work on finding a way home. It took almost 120 years, but she finally designed and built an antenna capable of penetrating the ionization layer and sending out a distress signal. The USS Miranda in 2293 responded to that distress signal. For three weeks the Federation ship orbited Kjenta II and through Treng's advanced antenna collaborated with the Columbia survivors to devise an escape strategy. Sadly, nothing they tried could penetrate the atmosphere, and so under orders from Starfleet Intelligence not to leave that monofilament antenna or any evidence of it, USS Miranda fired on the antenna, overloaded its generator (killing six of the Columbia survivors) and left Kjenta.

Another century passed until in 2390 Treng built another antenna, but this time she also built a transporter and converted an old missile into an exit vehicle. Whoever came in response to their distress signal this time would find them prepared, with two escape plans and a very healthy distrust of the Federation. USS Discovery-C, herself badly damaged from the Aurix II wormhole, responded to that distress signal.

Rescue

What followed was a veritable bloodbath as Treng tried to take control of the Discovery's away team, ultimately getting killed by those she tried to control. Of USS Columbia's crew, nine remained alive on Columbia herself in deep cryo-stasis while 26 were originally on the surface. At the end of the struggle, only four remained alive from the original away team, two who escaped the planet in the rocket during the power struggle, Commander Lennon who was severely injured just before the final battle, and Irina Pavlova, who had challenged Treng prior to Discovery's arrival and found herself aligned with Discovery's crew more out of necessity than choice.

Following her return to Earth, the other three members of Columbia's away team to Kjenta II were studied, poked, prodded, tested and evaluated. Like the Ba'ku before them, Federation scientists were very interested in how a normal humans were not only alive, but young following 219 years on the surface of Kjenta II. All three later disappeared and were found dead with their organs harvested. Irina avoided that fate only through the intervention of Captain Waltas and Commander Amman of the Discovery-C, who doctored the records on the Columbia so that she was indicated as going into stasis.

Starfleet, 24th Century

Irina was immediately cleared for duty (CPT Waltas and LCDR Amman of USS Discovery-C did some corrective work on her personnel file, making it appear as though she had been in stasis the entire time) and was assigned as a marine on the USS Vigilant. Her adjustment to the 24th century is a work in progress, made more difficult when Vigilant's marine detachment was transferred from the ship and Irina was laterally commissioned as a Lieutenant in Starfleet and assigned to the security/tactical department.

Security/tactical isn't particularly difficult for Irina as it is perhaps the one branch where little has changed over the last two centuries and change. Weapons and shields are more powerful and ships are faster, but the basics remain the same. It is only in computers where Irina has trouble, and in the year since rescue she has become more and more proficient, though a special use profile is required to shift LCARS displays to monochrome due to her complete color blindness.

Since serving on Vigilant, Irina has developed something of a reputation for being sarcastic, a bit hot-headed, and frequently getting injured. Of course, she is always at the very front of whatever dangerous situation is present and usually "On Point", so in a way it is to be expected. She has also shown a rather healthy fear of doctors and counselors, but at the same time a very protective nature over her shipmates. Irina has even managed to make a few friends, particularly Lieutenants Udas and T'Mihn in science on the Vigilant, and later at Duronis Embassy Lieutenant Commander Parker and a renewed and deepened friendship with Colonel Waltas.

Towards the end of her stint on USS Vigilant Irina learned about time travel and how James Kirk traveled back in time to 1968 and later to 1986 successfully. She has since been studying and planning how she can herself go home to 2171. She understood the ramifications, how this might alter the timeline, was torn between her desire to return to her proper time and the understanding of the damage this might cause, but mere days after her arrival at Duronis II Embassy she made good on her plan. With daughter Katya in tow, Irina stole a runabout and came within 20 seconds of reaching breakaway speed (and the point of no return) before Captain Tyr Waltas stopped her. More accurately, she let him stop her, and since then has made no further attempt to return to her own century.

Present

Irina was at the Duronis II Embassy for just short of five years; longer than she'd spent at any other assignment other than her exile on Kjenta II, and during that time has formed many close relationships and overcome many of the challenges she faced as a 22nd century person trying to live a 24th century life. Along they way she was married, widowed and then married again, taken in a teenager from a planet following a Prime Directive violation and seen that teenager off to Starfleet Academy, and has settled down into a happy and almost normal (as normal as life can be in Starfleet) family life with her wife, Commander Oddas Aria and their two daughters, Katya Pavlova and Jazmine Snow.

Despite everything going so well for her, Irina still had many problems to overcome. Recently she has had some serious misgivings about the never-ending cycle of violence and her role in perpetuating that cycle, and has also suffered some minor side-effects of being away from the radiation of the Kjenta star that over 219 years had altered her physiology. What started as an occasional nervous tick has slowly progressed to slight shakes that have started to affect her accuracy. While not necessarily a health problem. per-se, she has also notice the gradual waning of her physical strength. Since that strength was the result of over two centuries in extremely high gravity, living in normal gravity for the last five years, despite Irina's borderline masochistic workout regimen, has taken its toll.

What changed Irina and her life more than anything else was meeting, falling in love with and marrying Oddas Aria. While Irina had started questioning violence and it's never-ending cycle before meeting Aria, it was after the wedding when she was finally able to start living in the present and for the future, rather than staying stuck in the very distant past.

Abilities and Disabilities

Irina suffers from many side-effects of her long exile on Kjenta II. Kjenta II was a high gravity planet with unusual and harsh light from the nearby red dwarf Kjenta star. She is completely color blind and highly light sensitive due to the complete fusing of the cones in her eyes. She also suffered fairly severe nerve damage to her left side that while mostly repaired, was not and never will be perfectly so. This results in severe cramping of her left hand if she tries to do any fine motor control and for a time made it almost impossible for her to play the violin without significant pain. Irina is also exceptionally strong, the benefit of living 2.2 centuries in almost three times earth normal gravity. She has essentially the same level of physical strength as a strong Klingon or an average Vulcan. Lastly, she is VERY rough around the edges after 220 years living on essentially a post-apocalyptic wasteland of a world. She holds many normal customs in quiet disdain and was sarcastic, borderline insubordinate during a recent inspection of the USS Vigilant.

Irina is an expert sniper, with expert something of a modest understatement. She has perfect hand-eye coordination and is still the only non-synthetic life form to ever be recorded with a perfect 100% marksmanship score on all Starfleet, marine and even Marine Force Recon/Sniper qualifications. Simply put, Irina can hit anything with any weapon so long as she can see it and it is within the weapon's range. She remains the only human to ever, repeatedly hit birds in flight at 500 meters using iron sights with projectile or beam weapons (she can do it with both, unfailingly). While the Federation does not and never did condone assassination, Irina was trained nonetheless to take head-shots at hyper-extreme range; a skill she put to excellent and frequent use on Kjenta II, including an unconfirmed kill at over 5,000 meters.

Her innate and natural shooting talent was reinforced during 219 years on the harsh planet of Kjenta II, where the USS Columbia away team were under constant attack. Irina's verified record was a head shot with a .50 calibre sniper rifle at 3.6 kilometers with a telescopic (optical) sight, while a longer shot at 5.3 kilometers though unconfirmed, would the longest sniper shot ever recorded with a hand-held projectile or beam weapon by an organic life form in any environment, let alone in high gravity.

Strangely and out of sync with her history and branch, Irina is also fairly gifted at math. While she only has the normal 22nd century Marine Academy Bachelor of military science degree, she studied advanced mathematics under the legendary Dr. Lan Ngoc Treng during her 219 year exile on Kjenta II and is essentially equivalent to a bachelor of science in applied mathematics. She also learned, by necessity, basic mechanical, electrical and civil engineering working on the many construction projects geared toward departure from Kjenta II.

Appearance:
Finally Irina was badly injured in a recent bombing with permanent damage to her left knee, left shoulder and left eye. She had to learn how to walk again, and a part of her treatment that last of the Kjenta metaphysic radiation in her cells was collected and used to enable her to heal more completely than she otherwise would, at a cost of forever taking away the enhanced immunity and slowed aging she had benefited from for such a long time. The end result is that she will from this point forward age and recover at essentially a normal rate for a healthy human, while her left shoulder and knee will forever suffer a reduced range of motion. Furthermore her left knee could not be fully reconstructed and lacks lateral stability, making it very difficult, slow and a bit dangerous for her to walk for extended periods without using a brace to prevent lateral motion. She also has poor vision and slow tracking with her non-dominant left eye.

History:
After her stint on the Vigilant Irina was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and reassigned (and laterally transferred back to the Marines) as Chief of Strategic Operations and after as Chief Tactical officer at Duronis II Embassy and USS Thunder. Upon arrival she was reunited with now Colonel Tyr Waltas, the ship captain who had rescued her from the purgatory of Kjenta II. He again played the role of savior when he prevented her from performing the slingshot maneuver in a stolen runabout in an attempt to return to the 22nd century, and then helped her cover her tracks.

In the time since arriving at Duronis, Irina has felt her grasp on reality slowly slipping away despite the best efforts of those close to her to try and keep her grounded. Whether it was PTSD after more than two centuries on high combat alert or depression finally setting in after coming to an understanding that she will never see anyone from her past other than her daughter Katya, Irina has slowly been descending into madness in the years since her rescue.

After high school her only real career options were military service or music, and while a talented violinist, she wasn't talented enough.
Following nearly a year at Duronis II Embassy, Irina briefly reassigned as the Chief Marine Officer on the USS Excalibur-A, and then returned to the Embassy, this time as the Chief of Security.

Soon after her return to the Embassy she married Lieutenant Aurora James, who was tragically killed on their wedding night. Following AJ's death Irina was all-business until her commanding officer's wedding, at which time a single dance with the Chief Engineer led to nine months of dating and then marriage, Irina's third.

Irina has also become very close to Aria's surrogate family, the Ijos, and hopes to spend many shore leave periods visiting with her family.

Irina's last posting at the Embassy was as the Chief of Strategic Operations for the Embassy and its attached starships, and as her relationship with Aria deepened she has also begun to think about possibly leaving the Marines and switching over to regular Starfleet, mostly on account of a growing wariness toward violence.

One of the Thor's recent mission sent Irina and her shipmates to the one place she never wished to return to; Kjenta II. Irina spent two months on the surface and quickly re-adapted to the high gravity, while rejuvenating in physiological age by three years.

For three weeks the Federation ship orbited Kjenta II and through Treng's advanced antenna collaborated with the Columbia survivors to devise and escape strategy.
Since their marriage and honeymoon on Bajor, Irina has been (secretly) learning the Bajoran language, and hopes one day to surprise her wife with a trip to Bajor and on arrival, turning off the universal translator and interacting with Aria and the Ijos in their native language.

Another century passed until in 2390 Treng built another antenna, but this time she also built a transporter and converted an old missile into an exit vehicle. Whoever came in response to their distress signal this time would find them prepared, with two escape plans and a very healthy distrust of the FederationUSS Discovery-C, herself badly damaged from the Aurix II wormhole, responded to that distress signal.
Oddas Aria, now a full commander, was assigned as Commanding Officer of the Intrepid class starship USS Eagle, and of course Irina was the first to apply for transfer to her wife's new commandOn learning of the assignment, Irina finally not only realized, but accepted with the peace of understanding that a ship of her own was not in her future, and that she could seek no higher calling or greater contentment than seeing her wife succeed.

Following her return to Earth, Irina was studied, poked, prodded, tested and evaluated. Like the Ba'ku before her, Federation scientists were very interested in how a 246-year-old human was not only alive, but young. Irina had little choice but to cooperate, but as time went on, she became less and less cooperative until finally she ripped all of the probes, needles and tubes out of her body and forced her way out of the medical ward. She didn't make it too far before she was sedated, but an athlete with over two centuries on a high-gravity planet was considerably stronger than the nurses and orderlies who at first tried to restrain her.

When she woke up, she found herself in a familiar place, Earth Defense Marine Corps headquarters, now part of Starfleet HQ. She was given a choice, return to active marine duty, or return to the medical ward. Irina chose active duty.
Medical File

Irina's ordeal on Kjenta II is not listed anywhere on her personal or medical file. That file was edited and doctored by the captain and chief of security of the USS Discovery-C and indicates that rather than spending 219 years on the surface of Kjenta II, Irina Pavlova is reflected as spending those years in cryogenic stasis with her surviving shipmates. Her medical file still shows her height as 5'8" and weight as 118lbs despite an actual decrease in almost 2 inches and an (invisible to the eye) increase of 100lbs, all in increased bone density and muscle density and definition. Her colorblindness and permanently dilated pupils are amended in Discovery's report reflecting damage caused by a fault in her failing stasis tube on recovery. The nerve damage, at least to her left hand and wrist, was somewhat repaired in a surgery in the year 2391 performed by Toni Turner using the nerves of a deceased marine. Since that time, Irina is again able to play the violin, though with considerable pain in the left hand.

Irina has, to date, been extremely fortunate to find sympathetic ears of her commanding officers on the Vigilant and Duronis II Embassy who allowed her to maintain her secrets and continue uploading data from a physical taken on the Columbia in the year 2172.

Education:
On 239608.21 at an awards ceremony on Lightside Station (aka The Spike) Irina was badly injured when a bombing caused an upper level walkway to collapse, with Irina directly below it and using her body to shield two other officers from more serious injury. Irina was horrifically injured including most of the left side of her body being essentially crushed. It was only her extremely dense bone and muscle caused by her time on Kjenta II that prevented the incident from being immediately fatal. While not fatal, Irina's spine was severed at the waist and she suffered severe bone, muscle and nerve damage to most of her left side. The worst bone damage was to her left knee, which was entirely shattered and cannot support her weight without a rigid brace. Her left eye was also severely damaged to the extent that even after reconstruction it is slow to track, lacks the ability to focus closer than one meter or more distant than three meters and suffers from glare and halo-like aberrations. Her left shoulder, also shattered, has a reduced range of motion that prevents lifting her elbow higher than her head or moving it back behind the plane of her neck. Fortunately her shoulder does not restrict the movement needed to fire a rifle or ride her motorcycle and with the metal brace on her left leg she is able to walk or even run, albeit slightly unevenly and with some pain.

2164.06.10 Graduated Yuri Gagarin High School, St. Petersberg, Russia
In time her left arm and leg should recover most of their strength, but the range of motion of both the shoulder and knee are mechanically limited and the knee will always require additional external support to support her weight for more than a few slow and careful stepsThe eye is probably the least of her limitations as she is right-eye dominant and the loss of focus and slow tracking mainly reduces acuity in her left side peripheral vision.

2167.06.21 Graduated Earth Defense Marine Academy, Commissioned Second Lieutenant

2169.06.13 Completed Starfleet Academy Security Branch cross-training. Promoted First Lieutenant and rated for Starship service

2169.07.20 Assigned USS Columbia NCC-002 (NX class) as chief of security. Began Five-Year Exploration Mission
While Irina originally joined the marines as a means to satisfy her desire for adventure, her plan at the time was to serve for five years and then return to the obvious career choice of music. It was always expected that Irina would follow in the footsteps of her parents, grandfather, all the way back to her distant ancestor Modest Mussorgsky in the 19th century and live the life of classical music. Everyone in her ancestral line, with a few exceptions, were either composers, conductors, or for the century plus before Irina's birth, members of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic's violin, cello or viola sections.

2171.11.13 USS Columbia lost, presumed destroyed at Aurix II.
Irina was badly injured when her shuttle crashed on Kjenta II in 2171 including nerve damage to her left hand that prevented her from playing the violin, however her commanding officer, Admiral Toni Turner, performed a successful surgery in which nerve tissue from a deceased marine was grafted into her left hand and wrist restoring much of the lost control. While playing is painful, Irina gets finds the price a manageable one for the ability to once again play her beloved violin. She spends a lot of time practicing these days, and hopes in the distant future to take a position in an orchestra when Starfleet is eventually finished with her. Irina is no longer world-class, but she is certainly at or slightly beyond the level that could get her a seat in almost any municipal orchestra or chamber group.

2171.11.13 Stranded on Kjenta II for 219 years
In addition to the violin, Irina also knows how to play the related instruments of viola and cello, and is a functional, if uninspired guitarist. Besides the German and Russian Romantic-era music she favors, she is also a fan rock music from earth's "British Invasion" of the 1960s and of many artists and styles influenced by it.

2172.04.16 Promoted to Marine Captain (Posthumously)
Beyond music, Irina has taken an interest in her wife's native language and has been studying Bajoran.

Present "Rescued" from Kjenta II, spent eight weeks in medical, finally commission reinstated and assigned as Marine Officer to USS Vigilant
Finally, Irina enjoys riding her vintage motorcycle and is an excellent cook, knowing mostly Russian, French and British dishes, but now learning Bajoran cuisine with the hope of surprising her sort-of in-laws, the Ijos.

Notable Relationships
Dimitri Popov, died in 2232. They were unofficially married over a long-range comm relay with plans for a real ceremony on Irina's return. He was long dead when she finally made it home.

Katya Pavlova was born on April 2, 2170.

Career History
Irina owns a number of relics from her 22nd century life, including a number of weapons issued to her as the chief armory officer of the USS Columbia in 2169, a few specialized projectile weapons from her training as a marine sniper and a number of weapons she has sought out and obtained since her rescue in the 24th century. She also has a vintage Rolex wristwatch from the First World War that is currently on "permanent loan" to Oddas Aria, a vintage Norton 850 Commando motorcycle that she and Oddas restored together and a number of her original 22nd century uniforms which she often wears on special occasions or for important or dangerous duties. This is perhaps due to a strong desire that when her time comes, she wants her body to be found wearing her "proper" uniform.
2164-2167 Marine Corps Academy
2167-2169 Starfleet Security Cross-Training
2169-2171 Chief of Security, USS Columbia
2171-2390 Chief of Security, Columbia Away Team on Kjenta II
2390-Present Marine Officer, USS Vigilant

Despite her affinity for ancient things, Irina's two most prized possessions are the wedding ring that Oddas Aria made for her (complete with circuitry to "check on" each other) and the vintage and somewhat famous violin given to her by Oddas Aria on their first wedding anniversary.

Relationships

Dimitri Popov

Dimitri Popov

Graciela Solis

Graciela Solis

Grace was the Chief Medical Officer on Irina's first ship, and is Katya Pavlova's godmother.

Katya Pavlova

Katya Pavlvoa

Katya Pavlova was born on April 2, 2170 and went into cryogenic stasis on November 11, 2171. While Katya slept during the entirety of Irina's 219 exile, she did age in stasis at a vastly reduced rate, emerging at the physiological age of 4 instead of two. Initially behind her age group developmentally upon awakening, Katya has caught up quickly and is now an extremely bright 9-year-old, though one raised with some very odd values by her highly unusual mother.

Aurora James

Aurora James

AJ and Irina met as soon as she was transferred back to the Embassy from the Atlantis. For reasons unknown their brief meeting created sparks and those sparks led to a relationship between the two women. After a passionate courtship Irina and Aurora were married, but AJ was tragically murdered on their wedding night.

Jazmine Snow

Jazmine Snow

Jazmine Snow: Jazmine was given up for adoption at birth, Aurora went to see her after her mental breakdown. After Aurora left Jazmine's home life spiraled out of control and now she is broken but ever determined to be in Starfleet like her mother. Jazmine meant more to Aurora then anyone will ever know and AJ regretted giving her up for adoption. With her mother dead, Jazmine is now under Irina's care as an adopted daughter.

Kai'la T'Cheung-Pavlova

File:Kai'la2.jpg
Kai'la T'Cheung-Pavlova

Anastasia Miranova

Anastasia Miranova

Irina's Greag-Great-Great (many, many greats) Grand-Niece, descended from her sister Liliana. Anastasia is in the First Violin section of the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, and now plays Irina's old violin (formerly belonged to Irina's grandfather Oskar Pavlov) that was passed to her by Irina during a visit to Russia for Irina and Aria's 1st anniversary.

Oddas Aria

Oddas Aria

With the death of AJ still less than a year behind her, Irina never expected to find happiness again, but at her commanding officer's wedding she thought she may have. Irina and Aria started dating, and despite her best intentions not to, Irina found herself quickly and suddenly falling in love.

Irina and Aria dated for 9 months, and then while away on shore leave to Bajor they eloped suddenly and had a hasty though traditional Bajoran ceremony. Irina takes her vow "to protect" extremely seriously.

Family

  • Spouse: Oddas Aria
  • Father: Gregori Pavlov, Deceased
  • Mother: Tatiana Gutsu, Deceased
  • Siblings: Brother Anatoli Pavlov, Sisters Ekaterina and Liliana Pavlova. All deceased
  • Daughter: Katya Pavlova, Chronological Age 231, Physiological Age 16
  • Stepdaughter: Jazmine Snow, Age 21

Early Life

Immortality, at a High Price

Irina on Kjenta II

Irina off-duty

Recent Service

Following nearly a year at Duronis II Embassy, Irina briefly reassigned as the Chief Marine Officer on the USS Excalibur-A, and then returned to the Embassy, this time as the Chief of Security.

Irina has also become very close to Aria's surrogate family, the Ijos, and hopes to spend many shore leave periods visiting with her family.

One of the Thor's recent mission sent Irina and her shipmates to the one place she never wished to return to; Kjenta II. Irina spent two months on the surface and quickly re-adapted to the high gravity, while rejuvenating in physiological age by three years.

Since their marriage and honeymoon on Bajor, Irina has been (secretly) learning the Bajoran language, and hopes one day to surprise her wife with a trip to Bajor and on arrival, turning off the universal translator and interacting with Aria and the Ijos in their native language.

Oddas Aria, now a full commander, was assigned as Commanding Officer of the Intrepid class starship USS Eagle, and of course Irina was the first to apply for transfer to her wife's new command. On learning of the assignment, Irina finally not only realized, but accepted with the peace of understanding that a ship of her own was not in her future, and that she could seek no higher calling or greater contentment than seeing her wife succeed.

In time her left arm and leg should recover most of their strength, but the range of motion of both the shoulder and knee are mechanically limited and the knee will always require additional external support to support her weight for more than a few slow and careful steps. The eye is probably the least of her limitations as she is right-eye dominant and the loss of focus and slow tracking mainly reduces acuity in her left side peripheral vision.

Hobbies and Interests

While Irina originally joined the marines as a means to satisfy her desire for adventure, her plan at the time was to serve for five years and then return to the obvious career choice of music. It was always expected that Irina would follow in the footsteps of her parents, grandfather, all the way back to her distant ancestor Modest Mussorgsky in the 19th century and live the life of classical music. Everyone in her ancestral line, with a few exceptions, were either composers, conductors, or for the century plus before Irina's birth, members of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic's violin, cello or viola sections.

Beyond music, Irina has taken an interest in her wife's native language and has been studying Bajoran.

Finally, Irina enjoys riding her vintage motorcycle and is an excellent cook, knowing mostly Russian, French and British dishes, but now learning Bajoran cuisine with the hope of surprising her sort-of in-laws, the Ijos.

Unusual Possessions

Despite her affinity for ancient things, Irina's two most prized possessions are the wedding ring that Oddas Aria made for her (complete with circuitry to "check on" each other) and the vintage and somewhat famous violin given to her by Oddas Aria on their first wedding anniversary.
