Chronological History

Suvi Larraine Ila was born to Paul Ila, a human diplomat to Bajor, and Suvi Marain, whose family had been farmers on Bajor towards the end of the Cardiassian occupation. Paul Ila married Suvi Marain and the couple settled on Earth near a mountain range called The Poconos in upper North America. The Ila children grew up in an environment of academia, as Paul was a retired diplomat and Marain had begun working on a degree in anthropology by the time their second child was born.

As a child, Suvi went with her mother on several archaeological expeditions. Her mother would allow her to stand guard while she would dig through what often looked like rubble to Suvi. But, she developed a closeness to her mother, and a fondness for their time together. These expeditions were what fueled Ila's desire to be a Science Officer when she decided to attend Star Fleet Academy.

The Academy had always interested Ila because of the stories her mother told of how the Federation had assisted Bajor during the occupation. These stories were more legend than fact, because Marain had never been to Bajor. The stories were myths and third party accounts that she had accumulated during her childhood. Science, and especially archaeology, interested her because by exploring the past, she was reliving those times in her childhood she spent with her mother.

Suvi was a Science major at the Academy, with archaeology/anthropology and biology specializations.. She had sprinkled in courses in Archaeology at whatever schools or Universities were available to her throughout secondary school and in her limited free time at the academy.

Though of mixed Bajoran and human ancestry, she appears more human than Bajoran. Tall and thin, with long Auburn hair which is usually worn down when off duty and pulled back in a pony tail when on duty, she wears the traditional Bajoran earring. She wears these for the same reason she observes the religious customs of both her parents. She is not a follower of, or a believer in any particular deity, but practices the rituals of bother her parents out of habit and the connection that those rituals bring to her parents.
