• Description: Gunnar has an athletic yet muscular build due to his days running on the plains and working out. His body is full of scars that have been covered with fur and healed up, though some scars do remain. Despite his appearance, he’s quite strong-looking and possesses the grace and agility of an actual cat. He can see in the dark, has retractable claws which serve as weapons if needed and assists in climbing. When he's on duty, he typically wears the Starfleet uniform though he finds it regularly uncomfortable and restrictive.

• Family: Due to the nomadic nature of his tribe, he comes from an extended family of nearly 2,000 others which he calls each of the adult leaders, mother or father based on their gender.

General Overview

---

Gunnar is a natural athlete, when it comes to running mostly or anything that requires agility, if he hasn’t played the game he usually gives it at least a chance to grow on him. He considers himself an honorable cat, rarely using technology to solve problems. He will always rely on his smarts over his brawn to solve problems and tend to consider every challenge presented to be a learning experience. He’s compassionate and caring, to the point of being fearless in both. He will put down his life for a stranger but will sacrifice everything for his friends. This brings balance to his life.

Strength, and Weaknesses

Though he finds phaser technology awkward he tries sticking to some more archaic weapons, such as throwing knives or using a bow. Through his species natural affinity, Gunnar possesses the cat's agility, night vision, and senses of smell and hearing, his sight allows for him to see better in the dark and in low light conditions compared to others. Some people will consider him calm and quiet but this is merely a front as he tends to hold his opinions back until he has a chance to be alone with the person in question as he finds calling people out in front of others an act of dishonor to his superiors. Despite this, he can be very passionate and headstrong with his opinions, with no actual social grace which may explain why he tries to be quiet most of the time. He also possesses the cat's natural fearlessness.
Through training with Starfleet, he gained the skills of scavenging and the ability to make explosives with bits and pieces on hand, also found that he is a natural at tracking people which made him essential at finding people which after his first mission his superiors were impressed with, and found that he was loyal to his friends to a fault. Though his use of hand phasers are bad, he has a knack for designing, upgrading and making weapons and explosive more potent.
He tends to spend most of his time off duty with as few people as possible, trying to conquer his fears so he can become a better Starfleet officer. Though he still has yet to conquer his fear of water, his biggest fear lately was that of enclosed spaces after being caught alone for several days while he was on break from academy courses, he was lost unable to find his way back until a search party rescued him. Once medical started working on him, he found that their talk ended up putting him to sleep faster than the sedatives themselves. After several days in medical, however, he was back to working on his courses trying to grow from his experience.

Hobbies

Gunnar tends to sun himself when the time comes around, this is his form of relaxation. Studies everything he can of engineering manuals. Reads books on how to create new weapons among other things mostly utility items.

Personal History

---

Gunnar was born and raised on the Caitian homeworld, he was bigger than the rest of his species. So he faced a lot of ridicule, so his family packed up their things and left the village, heading for the city, his family were craftsmen by trade and they set up shop in a small shelter near the city market place and plied their trade. While his parents worked, Gunnar signed up as part of the city guard, he was assigned to repairing and building as the guard required to either support the guard or to help the civilian population with repairs of there ships or building structures in his off time for the poor of the city to live in to find shelter from the harsh plains weather that happens, either from the constant wind or the storms that ravage there way over the land. He served the younger part of his years doing this until he reached the age of adulthood, and left the city guard.

He spent a year doing his own thing until he saw a poster for Starfleet on a wall, and he wanted to satisfy his curiosity for adventure. So he talked to his parents and within the week he was signed up to Starfleet and shuttled off to the academy where he enhanced his engineering skills with tinkering and salvaging uses. It was here he found he had a knack for ideas of how to enhance or create new things for Starfleet to utilize. So on his off time, he spent his time researching new ways to find his place within Starfleet until he graduated from the Academy.
