Personal History

A veteran of the Dominion War and of the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor, Gul Dakul was once a feared figure in the Cardassian military. Known for his swift commands and short temper he was a man who accomplished many things in his time in command.

He found himself blockaded above the planet Theta 122 with a thousand other ships when the Sheliak advanced from their usually-isolationist territory. Frustrated by the lack of information from Central Command, and the other big players in the flotilla, Dakul gained a reputation as being a bit of a 'loose cannon' and a bully among weaker ships.

He reluctantly accepted the invitation from Arrow commanding officer, Randal Shayne for a conference to establish a pact of non-aggression between them while they were blockaded. Dakul didn't like Starfleet, but felt an increasing sense of guilt and shame over Cardassia's involvement in the Dominion War and believed true reparations hadn't been offered by the Cardassian Union. He kept quiet mostly throughout the proceedings, complaining that Starfleet transporters made his stomach uneasy, but it was probably his love of Kanar and Larish pie which made him feel ill.

When Eru Ghant played her card and double crossed the conference, Dakul sided with Starfleet and volunteered to help the security department to repel Orion boarders, teaming up with Lieutenant(jg) Regan Wilde to secure Main Engineering. En route to Engineering, Dakul died after taking pirate disruptor blasts at fatal range. He died bringing honour to himself and to Cardassia by doing something right for once. Regan told him that his honour was satisfied, and placed a pirate cutlass on his breast as a last act of dignity for the fallen Gul.

After the battle, his body was beamed back to the Hecklat, where Glinn DeKeal - now in command - received the body and received new orders to return to Cardassian space.
