The Galor class has formed the backbone of the Cardassian Union's stellar navy since it's introduction in 2315(1). A versatile platform, it has undergone multiple refits, the latest being the upcoming Type 5(2) in 2398. However, it has been supplanted as the strongest attack ship by the Keldon Class, first launched in the 2340s(3).

With the challenges facing the Union since the end of the Dominion War, the Galor class has become the mainstay of their military, and the upcoming Type 5 will retain much of its combat parity with most of its rivals and allies.
