Character History
Frederick Immelmann is the grouchy and somewhat eccentric chief administrator of Atlas Base - the only research installation - in the Theta 122 system. He founded the base for pure scientific research of the planet and its surrounding area away from the rules and regulations - and the protection - of Starfleet and of the Federation Science Council.
Immelmann is pompous, sarcastic and increasingly difficult to work with, and deeply resents a Starfleet presence - namely the USS Arrow - in the sector. He actually blamed Commander Shayne for bringing Starfleet to his door, despite the fact it was the Sheliak blockade that trapped thousands of ships, including the Arrow, in orbit of Theta 122.
Despite the friction between Immelmann and Shayne, most of the crew of Atlas Base have favourable working/personal relationships with Starfleet and the other factions in the flotilla. Immelmann will generally yield to Shayne's requests for aid or materials given a promise that Starfleet will not bother him for anything else.. until the next time.
