Field Training Pilot Program
The Starfleet Academy Field Training Program offers a select group of cadets to be assigned to active duty on a starship or facility under the guidance of a training officer. In order to qualify for the program, a cadet must successfully complete his or her first year at Starfleet Academy, maintain a minimum grade point average and have two letters of recommendation from Academy instructors.
The training officer would be responsible for instructing the cadet on the basics of active service in Starfleet, the keys to successful integration with a crew, as well as involving them in the day-to-day operations of their department.
First begun in 2387 with six cadets, the field training program has since expanded to offer more positions to cadets as available across the fleet.
