He was the very first host to the Venroe symbiont - joined in 2368, and hand picked the symbiont's next host, [[Venroe, Akyra|Akyra Sentoss]], who was joined in 2383.  
Etan was the first host to the Venroe symbiont in 2368. However, against the directives of the Symbiosis Commission, Etan hand-picked the symbiont's next host, [[Akyra Venroe|Akyra Sentoss]]. He hoped for this decision to become a "tradition" within those hosting the Venroe symbiont. However, members of the Commission (and often anyone familiar with the Venroe symbiont) often refer to the decision as the beginnings of a curse. Etan was killed in action in 2383, just 43 years old, and Akyra was joined with Venroe.
