Esperance is an allied, non-Federation world known as the "Gateway to the Federation" due to its location near the border of the Federation and the Colonial Coalition. Home to Star Station Esperance, a major commercial spaceport and trade center with a population of 18 million, Esperance itself has a population of 12 billion, many of whom are immigrants from all corners of the galaxy.

Locations

Esperance, with Star Station Esperance in view.
  • Adelaide, Esperance's largest city.[1]
  • Kreswick, known for a River Market
  • Eagle Eye Meadows, located in a mountain range about fifty kilometers away from the base of Esperance Star Station, with a lake and spectacular views of mountains and Esperance Star Station.[2] It is also home to a distillery that produces "Eagle Eye Meadows" Whisky.[3]

Adelaide

Named after the city Adelaide on the Australian continent on Earth, the city centre is a of a planned design surrounded by a green belt of parklands, mimicking its Earth counterpart. Several streets of both cities also share the same name.

Rundle Street is the main linear entertainment district in the city center. It is a wide, luxuriously paved walkway that is 2.5 kilometres long, with tracks for a hover light rail system that runs down the middle of the "street". On each side of the walkway are door to door entertainment establishments, including bars, restaurants, nightclubs, karaoke venues and tattoo parlors (with questionable hygiene practices)[4][5]. The eastern end of Rundle street is considered to be upmarket, while the western end is known for having a "seedier" reputation. Just before sunset the street becomes busy with many people making their way to the area, making the street noisy from people's chatter. [3][4].

Known Rundle Street Venues

  • Ancient Earth European Cowboy Beer Bar: An establishment that looks out of place in the rest of the upmarket locales in the East End. One of the interior walls is covered in fake wood - and hanging from it are many different types of analogue clocks. One of the other walls has flags of the old countries of Europe painted on it. From the same wall hangs lots of cowboy hats. Bar staff wear English police “bobby” hats, checkered shirts and vests. In the middle of the otherwise open front of the establishment is a set of saloon doors made out of fake wood, for no particular reason. Behind the bar is a small replica of the Eiffel tower. Their "specialty" is to serve European beer boiling.
  • Lusty Andorian Maid: A venue that has a number of brightly lit holosigns advertising diversions and potables from across the quadrant. It is known for its loud music.
  • Rocksoff: Holosuite located in the west end, manned by a large well-dressed Orion male at it's front who acts as both spruiker and security. "Best holosuite in the city! Any pleasure or delight you like."
  • The Coffee Collective Café: Well noted for its brew, The Coffee Collective is a great place for individuals to meet up over a cup of java. "Assimilating you with our brew since 2395!"

Traditions

If patrons in a venue get into a fight and are ejected by security, it's local unwritten tradition that they all go to the next bar for a round of drinks.[4]
