Background
Drann was born on Andoria. He is the only child of Dorran and Velia Chexon. His father Dorran is a merchant that owns a salvage and old parts shop. A lot of what is in the shop is old 22nd century parts. Dorran had been collecting all his life and was very facinated with 22nd century technology. Most of his clients are collectors of the same interests.
His mother Velia, works in the shop along side her husband. While she doesn't share Dorran's interest of 22nd century technology she helps him keep the business a float. Drann grew up in his father's shop walking around always tinkering along side his father. They were a very close a tight family. When Drann was 15his mother Velia became very ill. After weeks of treatment on Andoria her condition worsend. The family decided to temporarily relocate to Earth. Being on Earth, Velia was able to get the proper treatment at Starfleet Medical. This took about 3 whole years.
Being on Earth, Drann had a difficult time adjusting to his new environment. There were not a lot of Andorians around. While there were some Drann never saw eye to eye with them. While he was raised on Andoria he encountered a lot of different species coming in and out of his father's shop. So he didn't have what you would call traditional Andorian values. His family had become the same way. Seeing so many different species with a common interest opened their minds to different views.
As time passed on Earth, Drann felt he was happier there than he was on Andoria. With his mother getting better they planned to return to Andoria. Drann wanted to go back with his parents, but felt Earth had more to offer. So he decided to stay. His parents were apprehensive, but decided to ultimatley respect his wishes. Drann bounced around a couple years on Earth alone before decideing to apply for Starfleet Academy.
Once he was accepted Drann decided he wanted to become an officer. He focused studies in Starship Ops/Comm. Drann never minored in anything, but took both Science and Engineering classes. Engineering for his background in his fathers shop, and Science has always been an interest to him.
