Doreen Finch, most commonly known as Doz, is a lively, hands-on and occasionally facetious Human, currently posted as an Engineering Officer to the USS Gorkon, the flagship of the Tyrellian Defence and Exploration Taskforce.
After completing a course at the Martian Technical Services Academy, and qualifying as a Maintenance Engineer, she and a squadron of all-male friends began their careers as Starfleet Enlisted Personnel, with her own first Tour of Duty being aboard the USS Bonestell alongside her fellow recruit and confidant, Murphy.
Finch enjoyed a lowly but varied career, until things began to pick up during her Chief Petty years. In this period of time, superior officers often suggested that she commissioned to the higher ranks - though she often rebuffed the idea, preferring her life on "on the lower decks".
This all changed however with the death of Murphy, who she had reunited with during her twelve year stint aboard the USS Marigold; this profound loss caused her to utterly lose her emotional footing, and acted as the catalyst she needed to pursue a furtherance as Ensign, making her an older starting and therefore non-traditional officer.

Starfleet Career
Around age 20, Finch attended an intensive programme at the Mars Technical Services Academy, and it's attached speciality school, and soon after qualified as a Maintenance Engineer, focused on checking, repairing and servicing the interior subsystems of Federation starships. Although not her speciality, on her first Tour of Duty aboard the USS Bonestell, she was regularly ordered to perform maintenance on the ship's outer hull by a cantankerous Chief Engineering Officer. It was during these duties however that she ended up fostering an appreciation for spacewalking.[1]
