Early Life
Dazra Kol was born on Mars in the spring of 2373. She was orphaned during the attack on the Martian Colonies in 2385, and evacuated with a large number of refugees to Earth. Following the attack, Dazra was put on a ship to be sent back to Trill, but considering she had never been there, Dazra rebelled and slipped off of the transport during a stop at an asteroid station to resupply and refuel. From here, she stowed away on a freighter ship, eventually being discovered and joining the crew for the remainder of her teenage years. As Dazra matured into a young woman, she found herself often aboard Federation stations for a variety of reasons. After a conversation with a Starfleet officer one night, Dazra decided to try to join Starfleet and become a better pilot, hoping to find somewhere she actually felt like she belonged. Despite her temper, she managed to do decent in the Academy - nothing to brag about, academically - and Dazra was assigned to the USS Astraeus immediately after.
Aboard the USS Astraeus
Dazra spent three years as an Ensign aboard the Astraeus, surviving in the background as a solitary woman with one focus: learn as much about the ship as she could. The events of Frontier day had their impact on her, just like anyone else, but for the most part she was relatively unharmed and not left traumatized. These events, however, did help break Dazra out of her shell, and she began to stop self-isolating and attempt to be a bit more adventurous, taking some risks in order to try to stand out among her peers in a positive way...
