Per Captain Rahman’s instructions, I’ve checked in with Sickbay. I was to get better acquainted with Sickbay and some of the personnel. The Security department called for a quick briefing, which allowed me a bit more time to dig into what’s been reported so far. I have to admit I feel a bit out of my comfort zone with the tactical side of all this but I am confident in the team that has been assigned to me. They know the mission and are familiar with the inhabitants as well as their situation. As far as Marshal Calbert--I hope he’s as friendly with me as Commander Leix’s report indicated he was with her.

With the protestors responsible for the chaos at the Capitol Building apprehended and the Captain’s part in the negotiations finished, everyone has returned to the Veritas for some well-earned rest. Hopefully, there will be the usual lull before another high-stress mission comes down the pipeline. I’m not a counselor, but it doesn’t take one to see that many of the crew are worn down from the multiple obstacles we faced this mission. All members of my team performed admirably under the circumstances and I’ve sent a communication to Captain Rahman on behalf of each of them, recommending commendations for their hard work.

In other news, Marshal Calbert expressed his gratitude for our help and has invited myself and my team for a meal on Ketar V tomorrow evening.

Chief Medical Officer's Log, Stardate 239704.05

We’ve managed to obtain more data on the rogue planetoid which indicates it is inhabited by artificial lifeforms made up of a rather unique combination of artificial components and a crystallized carbon-diamond substance. In all my years studying alien lifeforms, I haven’t seen anything like it. It’s an opportunity of a lifetime, a dream for any doctor or scientist. However, I must admit that I’m apprehensive about first contact with these lifeforms. There’s every indication that their residence on this planet is far from accidental, which makes me question who created them and why.
