CloQ's Playground

CloQ's Playground is an area of extra dimensional space-time where the time-obsessed being CloQ- a member of the Q Continuum- placed the crew of the USS Excalibur-A and subjected them to various scenarios from across the history of several worlds. Their ultimate goal was to force the crew to apologise for their interference in an earlier experiment they had run previously- and to earn their respect as an all-powerful being. On both counts, CloQ failed and returned them to the Excalibur in a fit of temper.

	Spatial and Temporal Location

As of July 2399, this remains unknown. Given CloQ's status as a Q and their ability to create pockets of null space separate to the Prime Universe, it is entirely possible - if not likely - that the Playground exists out of the normal flow of time and outside of the universe. As noted by a number of officers, the area is saturated with chroniton particles which they theorised was to facilitate and rapid changes in time and space.

	Locations Within The Playground

The Playground contained a variety of locales and scenarios from across the space-time continuum. Members of the Excalibur's crew posited that they were chosen to be as disorientating as possible. Locations visited by the crew during their enforced visit included:

• Edo Castle, Japan, 1859 - It contained a cellar, stairwell and Daimyo Il Naosuke's War Room. There did not appear any exterior locations here as once people stepped through the grand doors, they were transported elsewhere. This was the first location in The Playground encountered by Commodore Kalianna Nicholotti, Lieutenant Commander Etan Iljor, Lieutenant Vitor Silver and Ensign Seria Tiberius.

• Medara, Betazed, 2374 - This location a large swathe of the city, sewage drains and beach and took place during the Dominion Invasion of Betazed. This simulacrum also included an 8 year old Talos Dakora and his later mother, both of whom were encountered by the 2399 version of Dakota as well as Commanders Addison MacKenzie and Karrod Niac.

• The Court Of King Louis XIV, The Palais of Versailles, 1715 - This included the entire royal court, including the Sun King himself. This area was encountered by Commander Genkos Adea, Lt. Commander Yogan Yalu and Lieutenant [[Hallia Yellir]. It also appeared to have doorways leading to other time periods and locations.

• The Roman Supernova of 2387 - The relief bridge crew found themselves in the Roman star system shortly before the destruction of Romulus and Remus. It was noted that space and subspace were coming apart.

• The Great Pyramid of Giza, Ancient Egypt, Approximately 3000 BC - This large area consisted on the exterior of the pyramid and at least enough of the Sahara that members of the Excalibur's crew walked across it for two hours.

• Time's Square, New York City , Late 20th century - Commanders MacKenzie and Niac as well as Lieutenant Dakora arrived here after their ordeal of Betazed. They ran afoul of local law enforcement and escaped in a yellow taxi.

• Vulcan Hospital, Vulcan, 2398 - Doctor Adea encountered past versions of himself and Commodore Nicholotti from the Resolution's visit to the planet the previous year.

• The Bridge of a 23rd Century Starship, 2360s - This was where it was discovered the Playground was saturated with chroniton particles and the crew attempted to use an antichroniton pulse to stop themselves from time travelling.

• 'An Unknown Jungle Somewhere The Delta Quadrant, Unknown Time - This featured three red moons, several tall trees and grass. Also present was a B'omar citizen and a Hirogen hunter.

• USS Oriskany, Shuttlebay and Escape Pods, 2373 - The shuttle bay and escape pods were present in this simulacrum as was a former host of the Niac Symbiont- Horvu. Karrod Niac risked violating the Temporal Prime Directive to save him and managed to bundle him into an escape pod and then launch.

• USS Honorius, Bridge, Stardate 32265.4 - Members of the bridge relief crew were brought to this location and made to participate in a battle with six Cardassian Gabor-class cruisers.

• Yelik Prime - An subterranean city on the homeworld of Lieutenant Yellir.

• Magna Roma, A Roadside, Late 23rd Century - Commodore Nicholotti's team helped a legionnaire to rescue a loved one being transported to the arena to fight. They also witnessed an aerial assault with primitive flying machines.

• USS Excalibur - A, 2391 - The fateful day that Commodore Nicholotti died saving the Excalibur-A by closing a spatial rift.

• HMS Titanic - 1912 - Commander MacKenzie, Karrod Niac and Lieutenant Dakora were brought about the doomed ocean liner just after it hit the iceberg. They also travelled in some of the escape craft.

• HMS Excalibur - The Caribbean - Mid 18th Century - Those present rescued the survivors of the Titanic.

• CloQ's Realm - CloQ had an undefined space within the Playground where he could monitor the various scenarios and summon the Excalibur crew without their consent. The exact nature of this realm was undefinable by three-dimensional standards.
