Background
Miri was born on a nondescript starbase in a simple sector of Federation space. Beyond her parents and siblings, there were no other Bajorans on the base, which led her to not fully explore her culture or roots. Adolescence aboard a lesser-used starbase was dull, with a finite number of other youths and activities to pass the time. This was when Miri began to show an interest in tinkering and frequently apprenticed, or more followed around unprompted, the chief engineer on their daily duties. Miri loved whenever a Starfleet ship docked as she got to listen to their chatter about the current mission or assignment, which always exploded into some grand adventure in her mind.
Turning of age, she applied and was accepted to the Academy, which her small starbase didn't prepare her for the numerous social interactions, but she was able to navigate herself to a major in engineering with a specialization in propulsion systems and programming. Enjoying the idea of one day going on her own adventures, Miri minored in helm and navigation. She also joined the racquetball team and played primarily doubles during her four years at the academy.
