Personal History

---

Astrim was born into the Seventh House of Betazed, the House of Courage. He/She is the youngest of three children, and he/she has never been interested in physical prowess or combat, but rather in knowledge, and for that he/she felt that he/she didn't belong or related to the values of his/her House. This isolation made him/her abandon much more values than just courage. In fact, rejecting a basic Betazoid value, he/she began to learn how lie and shield his/her thoughts from other members of his/her species or telepaths in general, even when his/her own telepathic powers had not yet developed. His/her relationship with his/her siblings was always tough, since both Emrim and Keedava seemed to be perfect examples of the House of Courage, being adventurous, bold, and energetic, and so they mocked him/her for his quieter lifestyle.

The only person who encouraged his/her pursue for knowledge rather than physical strength was his/her mother, but since Udet is the speaker for their family and the Betazoid Ambassador for Bajor, she was rarely ever there for him/her. Additionally, his/her mother was the only person at the beginning with whom he/she felt comfortable being him/herself, and the person who helped him/her grow stronger. She encouraged him/her in his/her decision to join Starfleet when the time came and to pursue sciences even when those values were not particularly encouraged in his/her House.

Astrim has a politically complicated life as well. He/she has no interest in Betazoid politics, and yet since his/her older half-sister rejected her Betazoid heritage (along with the future leadership of the Dito family) and his/her brother Emrim is male, it would seem that it is up to him/her to someday lead the Dito family thanks to his/her dual nature, but the situation both makes him/her uncomfortable and uninterested. For the time being, he/she is content with leading a small life enlisted in Starfleet.

Professional History

Astrim decided not to join Starfleet as an officer since he/she felt he/she was not good with the duty and patience that it would require. In Starfleet Academy, Astrim studied for a science position. She served as a Research/Lab technician before changing to Components Engineering temporarily, and this gave him/her the opportunity to be in an Operations position where it is required to combine both Science and Engineering knowledge.
