Early Life
The second and final child of a fairly elderly couple, Artinus had the advantages and disadvantages of having retired parents. His brother Marius was nearly an adult when he was born. When not in school in the city of Roma, his family had the luxury of traveling the planet of Roma. And he became accustomed to both the city, and country lives both equally. His family was not ruch, but well off enough to furnish a comfortable, yet semi-nomadic lifestyle. Artinus was a good enough student, while he did just fine in academic courses, he excelled in physical pursuits, winning many accolades in wrestling in particular. When he graduated secondary school, Artinus applied to the Starfleet Academy to follow the family tradition of public service.Instead of joining the diplomatic corps like his father and mother had, he chose to pursue the security services like his brother had.
The Academy
In the Academy, Artinus continued his past pattern of being an acceptable student, but an excellent athlete. Now he could explore many forms of individual and team sports that were not particularly popular on Magna Roma. But with with security training being what it is, he continued to be a prime wrestler, as well as learning more varied forms of martial arts. He developed a rather stringent workout routine to supplement the Academy's official physical training regiment, carefully crafting it to balance strength, endurance, and flexibility. Upon graduation Artinus was one of the more decorated athletes in Academy history.

| Safe Harbour |
| Artinus was part of the defense working group for the expedition to Safe Harbour. He was the one who discovered the drill on the Ya-Grhan vessel. Modifying his holodeck strategic simulation for space combat, he guided the other members of the team through several simulations to help them determine the right strategy. Upon arrival at Safe Harbour, Ensign Serinus was selected as a member of the away team to go on the diplomatic mission to the ESPers on the planet. While the away team was escorting the locals to the nearby cave system, he intercepted a strange panther-like creature with a stringer on it's tail. He kicked it in the jaw, before the ESPers used their powers to hurdle it into the air, and make it kill itself with repeated stings from it's own tail. Afterwards, they were ambushed by a squad of Ya-Grhan infantry. Using cover fire from local defenders, and tactical maneuvering, Artinus was able to pick them off one by one. Reuniting with his Columbia colleagues, he made sure that the local ESPer population had access to the classic tomes on guerilla warfare. |

| Arriving at the Eagle, just in the aftermath of an attack by cultists, Ensign Serinus, alongside fellow Columbia transfers Kano Risha and James Colquhoun, reported immediately to the bridge, and were put immediately to work. Ensigns Kano and Serinus moved to secure the ship. |

| Prologue |
| When the Juneau found an abandoned Arrow, Artinus was part of one of the away teams that boarded the derelict, on approach noting the phaser scarring. Entering the shuttlebay, they found themselves to be under the effects of a dampening field. A sudden explosion a few hundred yards away was recognized by Artinus as a grenade, and seemed to be coming from the direction that the other away team had gone. But Commander Shayne ordered them on to Engineering, so that they could regain control of the ship.
Once they arrived at the entrance to Engineering, they found it sealed with a strange polymer. Cutting a way into a bulkhead, they entered via maintenance shaft, a quick firefight commencing with Artinus at point. Once they had adequately cleared Engineering, and watched a cryptic log entry from the prior Captain, the away team proceeded to the bridge. Artinus was tasked with leading a detachment of newly beamed in crewman to clear the ship. In a dark corridor on Deck 4, Artinus sent a crewman up to the bridge, the rest of the detachment soon met up with Commander McKenna, Juneau's recently beamed in intel officer, who decided to tag along. As Artinus gave a quick rundown to the Commander, McKenna spotted an unusual box. Artinus snatched up the box, the lights suddenly came on, and the box came to life with insectoid legs. The group went to meet Ensign Zicv at the science lab to have her analyze it. Having contained the device, Artinus sent the last crewman to Engineering to see if they could find any of the bugs there. He called up the bridge, and was ordered to grab a Medical Officer to get their help. Arriving at Starbase 821, the local Security helped them to contain and clear out the bugs, though it took several days of meticulous sweeping. |
