History

An Argosian lieutenant once threw a drink at the young Benjamin Sisko. He was a Commander at the time. This resulted in a fight breaking out between the Argosian and Benjamin Sisko. The fight was stopped by Curzon Dax.

In 2376, a female Argosian stabbed, nearly fatally, one of the servers in Quark's when he mixed up her drink order.

Government

While they do not seem inclined to talk about themselves, enough contact with their governing body has resulted in a fairly detailed understanding of their government. They have a elected body of 9 who sit on a council. This council meets in a large room that has 9 separate chambers. These chambers each have their own external entrance. Each chamber has been constructed in such a manner that the clear walls are as close to damage proof as it was possible to make them. It is not unheard of for a council member ot lose control of his temper during a discussion with other members of the council.

Description

They are a race of aquatic humanoids. According to the records some members of this species are known to be quite large. They are capable of surviving in an atmospheric environment with a breathing mask. They prefer to travel in class N accommodations.

Physiology

While they can survive in an atmospheric environment with the use of a breathing mask they are completely dependant on it for survival. Also their clothes and uniforms are usually outfitted with a misting system that will keep their skin from drying out. If it does it has a tendency to crack.

Psychology

Short tempered and egotistical, they are often distrusted or outright hated by many. They prefer not to fight, as their water supply proves an easy target, however their short temper often gets the better of them.

Other than their short temper, aggressiveness and attitude they seem to be fairly well adjusted. However records show that they can explode into a murderous, berserker rage which they normally deal with by simple killing the psycho.

Religion

Very little is known about their religion due to the fact that they never speak about it and the few individuals who have visited their world were never exposed to it in any form.

Mythology

Currently their is no information available in the Federation data base in regards to this subject.

Society

Due to the short tempered and aggressive nature of the species their have been very few visitors to their world. As a result not much is known about their society. This is also partly due to the fact that almost all of their civilization is below water.

Culture

The only art form that they have taken off world with them is a shrill, nails on a blackboard form of music. Supposedly it is mostly created by vocals with a little bit of backup from musical devices that are totally unknown on any other world.

Customs

Very little is known about their customs. They never speak about them and since their have been almost no visitors to their world their are currently no records in the Federation data base in regards to this subject.

Technology

They are about equal with most mid-level Federation member worlds. However most of their tech is useless to other species as it was designed for use in a water based environment. In fact all of their space craft will have areas that are filled with water and other areas that can be pumped clear to provide a safe zone for those who need a air based environment for survival.

Economy

They are completely self sufficient. This is mostly due to their difficulty in arranging trade deals with other species. Most other species distrust them if they do not actively hate them. Another difficulty is that during most trade negotiations most Argosians will lose their temper.

Military

They maintain a fairly aggressive fleet and military force. This fleet is kept close to their home system at all times. They have a proud military history. While they have not engaged in many battles they have never lost one yet. Those that they have fought in the past include the Cardassians, Altoran, Miradorn and the Dominion.

In the case of the Cardassians and the Dominion, the attack was called off due to the fact that the potential gains were not worth the losses they were suffering.
