Araxxu Vahin was born in one of Bolarus IX’s deep sea mining and research facilities where his mother’s family have been running one of the larger mining consortiums on the planet for generations. His father, a researcher of deep-sea life forms, also works for the company.
The youngest of four children (his twin sister having been born a full two minutes before him) Araxxu grew up in a household where he was always trying to prove his worth. Throughout his early years Araxxu and his sister Arixu were always in competition. The winner getting their parents adoration and approval while the loser getting a stern lecture on trying harder. His two brothers, also a set of twins, were born five years earlier and, as they grew, they excelled at working in the family business.
For a while Araxxu tried to follow in his brother' footsteps, but unlike his them, he had no head for numbers. He would rather spend his days sailing around Bolarus’ oceans and diving to exploring the vast array of creatures that lived there. As time went on his brothers rose through the ranks of the family business while his sister was accepted to the Bolian Academy of Applied Sciences. Feeling rudderless compared to his siblings Araxxu left Bolarus IX to get some distance from his family name.
While vacationing on Casperia Prime Vahin passed by a Starfleet recruitment booth and was intrigued by the vast array of jobs they offered. Always feeling adrift on his own home world Vahin thought that a life among other species might help him find his place in the universe. His first few years in Cadet training were not easy for Araxxu. He missed being close to his family even if he was happy to be away from constantly having to prove himself to them. In time he began to see Starfleet as his new family and finding he had a knack for biology he dove head first into his newfound roll.
