Meredith Aras is a PNPC civilian based on Lyshan VI played by Ryoma Hoshino.

Meredith is a retired Starfleet Intelligence officer who served aboard Starbase 129 during the Dominion War. It was aboard SB129 that he met the young Ryoma Hoshino whose family had evacuated from the occupied Lyshan System. Meredith was an inspiration to the young boy and part of the reason Hoshino gravitated towards joining Starfleet Intelligence when he came of age.

Following his retirement from Starfleet, he moved to Lyshan VI and came into regular contact with Hoshino, who was tasked with helping him record and publish his memoirs. During this long period of interaction, Meredith grew to become Ryoma's mentor and sponsored his application to Starfleet in 2384.

Aras and Hoshino maintain contact and Hoshino benefits from the extant human network and knowledge accumulated by his mentor.
