Born during the Occupation, the first decade of Manar's life was filled with misery and oppression. Growing up in an internment camp just outside of Ashalla, she knew little mercy at the hands of the Cardassians. Luckily, the Rebellion succeeded and Bajor was liberated. Manar and her mother, Anora Neyal, began their lives anew in the Bajoran capital. They took refuge in one of the city's temples, devoting their lives entirely over to the work of the Prophets. Within a few years, Neyal rose through the ranks, becoming a prylar and eventually a ranjen.
At the age of 16, she joined the Bajoran Militia as an engineering technician and did her part to help rebuild her ravaged homeworld. She eventually joined the B'hala excavation as a technician and archaeologist. As she literally uncovered the lost history of her people, she became more and more devout in her faith in the Prophets. In one of the buried city's temples, she found an ancient prophetic text that bespoke of the Bajoran's benevolent allies who would come to help them rebuild after the grey warriors sacked the land. Convinced that the text spoke of the Federation, she decided to enlist in Starfleet Academy and give back to those who'd come to help her people in their time of need.

At the Starfleet Academy, Anora put her talents towards the Engineering department and excelled in the more hands-on, practical portions of her education. Theory was never her forte so she quickly abandoned a minor in Science and instead focused on Operations. Over the course of her four years at the Academy, she became especially proficient with computer and communication systems. Her additional training in Medical Sciences allowed her to develop an advanced knowledge of bio-neural technology as well as other bio-technological systems.
After her fourth year at the Academy, she signed on for a cadet cruise aboard the USS Taurus (NCC-12816). Her assignment was not surprisingly to the Engineering department, serving as an aide to Chief Engineer Chang Fo and his staff. Excelling at her job, she was a quick learner and took on secondary duties as an assistant nurse in the Medical department. She received high praise from Chief Medical Officer T'Lara, citing that Anora should probably have pursued full-time studies as a doctor instead of an engineer.
Just after her year was up on the Taurus, she was recalled to Starbase 118 to undergo her final examination. Administered by Lieutenant Commander Cara Maria (CO) and Commander Toni Turner (FO), she was thrust into a simulation on Holodeck 17. Aboard the USS Centris-A, she served as Engineering Officer on its mission to investigate the Caldonian research station, Prex.
Shortly after graduated the Academy, Anora was assigned to the USS Resolution (NCC-78145) as Engineering Officer. Starfleet Command was gracious enough to supply her with the type-9 shuttlecraft, Antares, to make the lonely four week journey to Starbase 185, where the Resolution and her crew were on shore leave. A days later, the vessel departed from Starbase 185 on an unsanctioned mission to recover its Commanding Officer, Commander Toni Turner, and her husband (Major Heath West). Recovering them, the Resolution crew proceeded to track down freighters that had gone missing while en route to the Duronis II Embassy from Deep Space 4. Shortly after their arrival at the station, the Nova-class starship was recalled in accordance with the end of Turner's command examination period.
On stardate 238610.22, Ensign Anora Manar was assigned to the USS Independence-A as an Engineering Officer. A day after arrival, Anora was transferred to the Science department. The Independence-A is currently en route to the Desparatos system to investigate a colony on its second planet. After a short two-month tour of duty, Manar was reassigned to the Starfleet Corps of Engineering for a classified development program. On stardate 238708.29, Anora was reassigned to the USS Ronin's engineering crew, serving once more under Commander Toni Turner. After a couple months on board, Commander Turner placed Manar in charge of her own department - the newly formed Department of History and Anthropology. On stardate 238712.15, following the mission to rescue Turner's children after their abduction during Deep Space 17's Remembrance Day parade, Anora was promoted to the rank of Full Lieutenant. Following Turner's promotion to Captain, the entire crew of the USS Ronin was redeployed to the Embassy on Duronis II.
